The goal at Prism VentureWorks is a simple one: to work with talented entrepreneurs and management teams to develop new technologies disruptive to the status quo and build substantial business enterprises around them. We achieve this by deploying our team to work together with entrepreneurs to create market-leading companies.
The background of each of our team members is different, each focusing on different industry sectors within technology and life sciences. These industry sectors in technology include digital media and software & services, and in life sciences, we focus on medical devices, therapeutics and breakthrough diagnostics.
All of the team members are united by the common strengths of intense commitment and hard work. Our team includes the founders, CEOs, and senior executives of successful companies ranging from on-demand applications to novel stents to treat coronary artery disease and other vascular conditions. Our team members have launched new companies and managed them through the growth process – ultimately becoming market-leaders within their industries.
It is from this collective experience that the Prism team strives to be the "CEO's First Call." This means that we demand that all of our team members work hard to earn the respect and trust of the management teams we work with so that the Prism Team is called upon as a valued resource to help solve problems and capitalize on opportunities within the companies in our portfolio. John Brooks

John is a co-founder of Prism Venture Partners and has played a key role in the firm’s development over the years. He is a valued member of the life sciences team, having brought a wealth of strategic, clinical, operational and financial experience to the team
He currently sits on the boards of OptiScan Biomedical, Confirma, MedManage Systems and Uptake Medical.
John was formerly General Manager at Pfizer/Valleylab where he developed and executed a minimally invasive surgery strategy. With Pfizer/Strato, he led the growth of a rapidly evolving vascular access medical device business.
John has co-founded three life sciences companies – Songbird Hearing, Locus Pharmaceuticals and Insulet.
John holds an M.S. in Business and a B.B.A. cum laude from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner.

Locus Pharmaceuticals is a pharmaceutical company focused on developing novel, small molecule therapeutics to address major unmet medical needs. Locus utilizes powerful and proprietary computational technologies running on Linux-based supercomputer clusters to simultaneously identify relevant binding sites on protein disease targets and rapidly generate novel, small molecules that bind specifically to those protein sites. In contrast to other computational approaches, the Locus technology requires only a high-resolution, 3-dimensional structure of the target protein to implement its drug discovery process. Presently, Locus Pharmaceuticals is synthesizing and testing novel drug candidates for the treatment of debilitating and life-threatening human diseases, including HIV/AIDS, cancer, arthritis and inflammation. |
