We are a New York based private equity firm that provides expansion capital to rapidly growing small and mid-sized businesses with market leading potential. We target those industries experiencing rapid growth or undergoing fundamental change in the areas of outsourced services, healthcare, and technology.
We emphasize the concept of partnership investing; developing strong partnerships with outstanding entrepreneurs and assuming equal responsibility for building value. Our investment funds primarily invest in later stage growth companies (with sales in excess of $5 million), management buyouts, platform acquisition strategies, and recapitalizations.
We serve as general partner of investment partnerships with over $400 million of capital under management. We are currently investing from two funds with total capital of approximately $200 million. Since our founding in 1988, we have invested in over 100 companies in our targeted areas of focus. We take an active role in assisting our portfolio companies and have helped them achieve over 60 successful exits including IPO’s, public offerings, strategic sales and recaps.

Chris Leong rejoined The Argentum Group as a Principal after completing several years of management roles at growth stage ventures. Chris has over 11 years of operational (business development, sales, marketing) and venture capital / private equity experience. His areas of expertise include new deal origination, new investments, and corporate development (mergers & acquisitions) / business development / marketing for Argentum’s portfolio companies.
Prior to returning to Argentum in 2008, Chris spent over 5 years with Sirit Inc., a leading developer and supplier of Near Field Communications (NFC) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. At Sirit, Chris was a key member of the executive team, where he held several senior management positions including VP NFC and Contactless, VP Corporate and Business Development, and VP Sales RF Solutions, and successfully grew revenues for numerous Sirit business divisions. In addition, Chris established Sirit’s Near Field Communications (NFC) division and was responsible for sourcing and securing several significant customers and partnerships across North America, Asia, and Europe, including NXP, Microsoft, BenQ / Qisda, Kyocera, and Intel.
Chris has also held corporate strategy and marketing positions at HorizonLive (now Wimba), a leading supplier of collaborative learning software applications and services to the education industry.
Previously, Chris was a Senior Associate with The Argentum Group and an analyst with the Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking Partners private equity fund. Chris is a graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Beacon Energy Holdings, Inc. is engaged in the production and marketing of biodiesel. Beacon's biodiesel efforts are centered around the utilization and processing of lower grade feedstocks, primarily animal fats such as beef tallow, choice white grease and poultry fat. Since its formation in 2006, Beacon has successfully completed strategic investments in three companies dedicated to the production of biodiesel and one company dedicated to the collection of low cost waste products that may serve as the raw materials for biodiesel. The facilities in which Beacon has invested currently have the capacity to produce more than 15 million gallons of biodiesel per year, and once construction of the St. Joseph, MO facility is completed in Q1 2009, the annual capacity will increase to over 30 million gallons. |

Conner Industries, Inc. supplies crating lumber, industrial lumber, shipping material, southern yellow pine, softwood, hardwood, panel products, and specialty products to industrial, packaging, pallet and crating lumber users. The company utilizes cutting edge technology to notch, cut to length, rip, resaw, and install banding groove in all manufactured or remanufactured upper grade as well as low grade lumber products cut to customer specifications. Conner offers shipments from its own remanufacturing plants located in Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia, as well as other strategically located reload distribution points. |
