Brian Mesic Partner Anthem Venture Partners |
Brian joined Anthem when the first fund was formed in 2000. He currently serves on the board of directors of Blurb, CoCoDot, Meez, Viewdle, and Zag. He is an observer on the board of directors at Solarflare Communications and remains active in several other Anthem investments, including Buzznet and GridIron. Prior to its sale to Intersil, Brian was on the board of directors of Planet A.T.E. Before their merger and IPO, Brian was an observer on the boards of RFMagic and Entropic Communications.
Brian previously worked in the LA office of McKinsey & Company. At McKinsey, Brian specialized in corporate strategy and e-commerce and served CEO level clients in healthcare, semiconductors, media, communications, entertainment, and construction in the U.S., South Africa, and Brazil.
Before business school, Brian served as Manager of Technology Integration at The Prudential. The group Brian managed was responsible for evaluating and integrating emerging technologies.
Brian earned his MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. At Tuck, Brian was active on the (very) amateur "Tuck Tripods" ice hockey team and honed his snowboarding skills on the Dartmouth Skiway.
Brian attended Occidental College in Los Angeles and earned degrees in both Biology and Economics. His senior economics thesis focused on education reform, and his biology interests included marine biology and the field that is now known as evolutionary psychology. Brian was active in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and helped support himself through college as a lead instructor on Occidental's Vantuna research vessel, where he taught field oceanography and marine biology classes.
Brian is a Southern California native. He grew up in Palos Verdes and has spent most of his professional career in the Los Angeles area. Brian is a die-hard Lakers fan. Before parenthood, he was an active world traveler, SCUBA diver, and snowboarder.
