Altos Ventures is a leader in the first-stage venture capital, dedicated to investing first in great teams and great ideas. We prefer to be the first and lead institutional investor – from raw start-ups to profitable, bootstrapped businesses. In all cases, there must be an opportunity and a mutual commitment to create significant value with limited additional funding. We invest in all sectors of the IT industry including software, systems, services and components. Our capital commitments have ranged from $100,000 to over $6 million. For special situations, we can access additional capital, having raised more than $1 billion from co-investors and limited partners. Since 1996, Altos has formed three venture capital funds ranging in size from $50 million to $100 million. Ho Nam is a General Partner and co-founder of Altos Ventures, focusing on investments in the areas of networking, storage and semiconductors. He currently serves as a director of Billeo, Vapro, WhiteHat Security, and Yosemite Technologies and works closely with CrownPeak, Enwisen, and Xignite. Ho led the firm’s prior investments in Axis Systems (acquired by Verisity), Evolve Software (EVLV, acquired by Primavera Systems), Inzap, Listen.com (acquired by Real Networks), Nishan Systems (acquired by McDATA), Pixo (acquired by Sun Microsystems), Provato (acquired by I-Many) and Soundpipe (acquired by Comdial). All were deals in which Altos was the lead investor in the seed or first institutional round of funding. Before joining Altos Ventures in 1996, Ho worked at Silicon Graphics (SGI) and Octel Communications (acquired by Lucent). Ho began his VC career at Trinity Ventures in 1990 and began his professional career at Bain & Company where he advised clients in the Semiconductor industry on product and corporate strategy.

Billeo Billeo's award winning product enables consumers to view and pay online bills directly without having to go through consolidators such as bank bill payment sites. In 2005, the Online Banking Report (OBR) named Billeo among the "Top 25 Innovations of All Time." In February 2006, Billeo announced a partnership with Visa International. Altos led a $4M Series A for Billeo in March, 2006. |

Vapro Vapro is developing breakthrough thermal management solutions for electronics. Today's electronic systems run faster and generate increasing degrees of heat. Current thermal mangement solutions are not keeping pace and are limiting performance improvements. Altos Ventures led the company's seed round. |

Customers around the world depend on GuardianEdge solutions to protect sensitive and proprietary information, to ensure compliance with rules for safeguarding privacy, and to enable secure enterprise mobility. Established in 1984, GuardianEdge is headquartered in San Francisco and serves an installed base of more than half a million active users at leading global corporate and governmental organizations, including Lockheed Martin Corp., Deutsche Bank AG and Humana Inc. Altos co-led a $6M Series A for GuardianEdge in 2005. |

Mtone Mtone provides data services for wireless operators in China. The company offers interactive content (games, information, ring tones, etc.) that are marketed to end-users on a per-use and subscriber basis. Altos helped the company transition away from a hardware based business model. |
