    21 Ventures

David Anthony is an experienced entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and educator. Since founding 21Ventures in 2003, the fund has provided seed, growth, and bridge capital to over 40 technology ventures across the globe. David Anthony sits on the board of directors of several 21Ventures’ portfolio companies including: Aero Farm Systems Inc., Advanced Telemetry, LLC, BioPetroClean, Ltd; ReGen Power Systems, Inc. and Gravity Power, LLC. In addition, David serves on the board of directors of publicly traded companies such as Entech Solar (OTC: ENSL); Axion Power (OTC: AXPW); Clean Power Technologies (OTC: CPWE) and ThermoEnergy (OTC: TMEN).

David Anthony is an Adjunct Professor at the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS). The Academy, based in Manhattan brings together scientists of different disciplines from around the world to advance the understanding of science, technology, and medicine, and to stimulate new ways to think about how their research is applied in society and the world. The Academy is widely recognized as one of the world's foremost organizers of scientific conferences and symposia. David's students at the Academy hail from such prestigious institutions as Columbia, NYU, Princeton, Yale, Rockefeller University, Sloan Kettering, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

In 1995, David Anthony launched Notorious Entertainment, a developer of multimedia brands, which published the internationally distributed magazine, Notorious, and developed an early streaming website. In 1998, he sold the company to entertainment mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, and ran the company for two subsequent years. Before Notorious, Mr. Anthony, with Dartmouth College professor Dr. John K. Shank, consulted for Fortune 500 clients on capital investments, mergers and acquisitions, and entrepreneurship. In addition David is an adjunct professor at the NYU Stern School of business where he began teaching technology entrepreneurship in the Fall of 2009.

David received his MBA from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1989 and a BA in economics from George Washington University in 1982. He is an entrepreneurship mentor at the Land Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia University Graduate School of Business. In 2002, David was awarded the Distinguished Mentor of the Year Award from Columbia University.

    Representative Investments
Entech Solar, Inc. Entech Solar, Inc. Entech Solar, Inc., is the leading provider of low-cost, concentrating solar energy systems. Entech designs, manufactures and markets solar energy systems that provide electricity and thermal energy for commercial and industrial applications. Entech's breakthrough product, the ThermaVolt™ system, uses proprietary concentrating photovoltaic and thermal (CPVT) technology to produce cost-competitive distributed energy. Entech's ThermaVolt system generates 3-4X as much energy as standalone PV systems, making it the most efficient solar system today. Entech Solar, Inc. was formed by the acquisition of ENTECH, Inc., by WorldWater & Solar Technologies Corp. in January 2008. ENTECH had primarily been an R&D company that designed and produced concentrating solar PV technology. WorldWater™ was an engineering services company that designed and installed large solar projects. The combination of these two companies created a new and very powerful company with core competencies in both technology development and engineering services. Entech Solar, Inc. will focus on combining the strengths of each of its legacy companies to create an industry-leading, vertically-integrated, solar energy company.
Advanced Hydro Inc. Advanced Hydro Inc. Advanced Hydro Inc. is commercializing a patent pending technology to reduce fouling of membranes used for water purification and filtration systems. This technology is based on a deposition technique to adhere Polydopamine, a highly hydrophilic polymer onto the surface of commercial membranes. The technology allows modification of all wetted parts, including membranes, housing, spacers and the module by simply flowing a specialized solution through the module. Its deposition is possible on variety of membranes, including but not limited to Polysulfone ultrafilteration, Polyamide reverse osmosis and Nanofiltration, Polypropylene microfiltration and Polytetrafluoroethylene microfiltration membranes. Lab data has shown 30-50% improvement in anti-fowling properties of the commercial membranes while maintaining the flux performance. Field test and pilots are in progress. Applications of the technology include "produced water" management for oil and gas recovery systems, desalination, traditional water treatment plants, beer filtration systems, and all other filtration systems where fowling management is a big challenge.
ReGen Power Systems, Inc. ReGen Power Systems, Inc. ReGen Power Systems, Inc., is a 12-year-old company focused on the development of a low temperature Stirling engine. Massive amounts of heat energy exit industrial processes daily and are dissipated into the atmosphere, unused. A typical steam turbine power generation plant produces 2/3 heat and 1/3 electricity, and globally, companies waste $300 billion of energy in this manner every year. Most attempts to reuse such heat involve cycling it back to pre-heat combustion air, but the benefit is usually outweighed by the cost. Only one commercial technology exists to convert such heat to electricity, but its high cost, low efficiency and the ability to operate only at heats about 800 Celsius limits it to niche applications. ReGen has recently re-designed an old engine technology to create power efficiently using discarded heat and steam at the low temperatures of 200 to 400 Celsius. The power that is created comes with zero emissions. Due to the low cost and ability to run at low temperatures, ReGen Power's stirling engine can be installed in many heat emitting facilities such as paper mills, steel mills, chemicals and petroleum refining facilities, glass ovens, cement plants and similar locations.
Sky WindPower Sky WindPower Sky WindPower is building prototype Flying Electric Generators (rotorcraft) to demonstrate that wind alone can simultaneously hold a rotorcraft aloft at thousands of feet above the earth's surface and cause the rotorcraft to generate electricity to be returned to ground systems via a tether. As you get higher, the wind gets stronger. Harvesting just 1% of those high-altitude jet streams could produce enough power for everyone on Earth.
