Core Capital is a $370 million private equity fund that provides capital to both early-stage ventures and small to mid-sized growth companies. The common thread is that these companies are developing or incorporating disruptive technologies into their businesses. We focus principally on the kinds of "core" or fundamental technologies that enable or enhance information, data and communication. We are headquartered in Washington, D.C. and most of our investments are made on the East Coast.
We are backed by some of the country's most sophisticated and experienced institutional and individual investors who are often actively involved in our investment work and each year we review thousands of potential transactions. Our extensive network of investors, bankers, service providers, and entrepreneurs is critical to our ability to source attractive investment opportunities. Our initial investments are typically in the $2-10 million range and we often serve as the lead investor. However, we work closely with other leading funds and we build, or participate in, investment syndicates for every investment we make. Our investments are generally structured as either preferred stock or convertible debentures.
