    Venture Fund Profile
Lyric Capital was formed in 1998 to fill a need in the private equity market: Where does a smaller company turn for "venture capital?" At the time, venture capitalists were looking for deals in which they could typically invest no less than $5 million. Often, they wanted deals that would require a great deal more than that. On the other hand, a company requiring $1 million to $3 million often was forced to go through some kind of "retail" private placement or other weird offering, where the placement agent took a very large bite out of the money raised.

Lyric has always believed that smaller companies get the short end of the stick. Lousy advice, poor capital raising opportunities, unsophisticated financings. We think smaller companies, or companies that don't need a lot of money, deserve the best. We aim to provide it.

Lyric's principals have been involved in transactions totaling more than $18 billion. We have advised many Fortune 100 companies, and we have worked on all sorts of sophisticated deals. Every Lyric principal has extensive company operating experience and many years of private equity investing experience. “We get close, so you get the best.”

Its products range from free and subscription-based salary tools for individual use to database compensation planning and administration applications for corporations large and small. Its customers include many Fortune 100 companies. Salary.com, based in Wellesley, Massachusetts, has made the leap from a pure Internet company to a serious corporate software company.
Open Channel Software A unique software company that hosts and implements the development and commercialization of a wide range of specialty applications. Universities and government institutions, such as NASA, contract with the company to commercialize software they have developed. Ultimately, the Chicago-based company will become one of the large software/application "content" warehouses in the world.
Gear Magazine From its flagship branded product, GEAR Magazine, the company, is branching into television, interactive television, books and other operations. The magazine, launched in 1998, has a circulation of over 500,000 and has established itself as one of the pre-eminent pop culture and fashion magazines for young men aged 18-34. Its hallmarks are quality journalism, top photography and cutting-edge culture. The expansion of the brand gives the New York-based company the ability to attract cross-media advertising to this highly sought-after market.
Classic Entertainment The Company is the leader in developing and distributing children's character building entertainment products and resources. Classic has won multiple awards for both content and presentation and is headed by industry leader Tony Salerno, who has spent over 20 years creating million-dollar selling products for this industry.
