North Bay Equity Partners is a private equity and advisory firm that works with companies doing business in and with Latin America. North Bay targets companies with $25 to $250 million in revenue that are well positioned to take advantage of continued economic development in Latin America.
North Bay's investors and partners include institutions and high-net-worth individuals possessing a deep understanding of Hemispheric affairs and a strong interest in working with and investing in companies involved in Latin America. Drawing on the capital of its current investors, North Bay is able to commit $3 - $7 million in equity per transaction and through its sponsors has the capability to handle equity investments of up to $50 million per transaction.
North Bay invests in and advises businesses that are well positioned to benefit from continued economic development in Latin America. North Bay works with companies that provide high returns on invested capital, are leaders in their respective markets, and are able to benefit from North Bay's value-added expertise.
North Bay recognizes that the closing of a transaction is often only the beginning of the process of creating shareholder value. North Bay seeks to work closely with the shareholders and management to pursue strategic acquisitions, optimize the company's capital structure, establish rigorous reporting standards, and maximize value for shareholders at exit by carefully selecting the method and timing of sale.
Matthew Cole, Partner, North Bay Equity Partners
Matthew Cole has 10 years of private equity, management, and investment banking experience in Latin America. Cole is the former CEO of OneScope, a developer of international business-to-business internet marketplaces. Cole has also served as a Principal at Newbridge Latin America, a $300 million private equity fund affiliated with Texas Pacific Group and Richard C. Blum & Associates, and as an Associate with J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York, Santiago, and São Paulo. During his career, he has worked on a wide range of private equity and capital markets transactions in the telecommunications, energy, and consumer products sectors throughout Latin America and the United States. Cole graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude with Honors from Brown University in 1992 with a Bachelors Degree in History. During his time at Brown, Cole spent one year studying at the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the University de Los Andes in Merida, Venezuela. In 1998, Cole completed an executive business education program at the Wharton School. In addition to his native English, Cole speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish.
