    Ho Nam, General Partner & co-founder, Altos Ventures Ho Nam, General Partner & co-founder,  Altos Ventures

    Ho Nam is a General Partner and co-founder of Altos Ventures, focusing on investments in the areas of networking, storage and semiconductors. He currently serves as a director of Yosemite Technolgies and works closely with Enwisen. Ho led the firmís prior investments in Axis Systems (acquired by Verisity), Evolve Software (EVLV, acquired by Primavera Systems), Inzap, (acquired by Real Networks), Nishan Systems (acquired by McDATA), Pixo (acquired by Sun Microsystems), Provato (acquired by I-Many) and Soundpipe (acquired by Comdial). All were deals in which Altos was the lead investor in the seed or first institutional round of funding.

    Before joining Altos Ventures in 1996, Ho worked at Silicon Graphics (SGI) and Octel Communications (acquired by Lucent). Ho began his VC career at Trinity Ventures in 1990 and began his professional career at Bain & Company where he advised clients in the Semiconductor industry on product and corporate strategy.

    Ho received an MBA from Stanford University and a BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College, where he was co-editor of the Materials Handbook for Hybrid Microelectronics, the result of a research project funded by Teledyne Technologies.

    John Hall, Managing Director, Horizon Ventures John Hall, Managing Director, Horizon Ventures

    In addition to 15 years of venture capital experience, John Hall has broad experience in financial and general management over a 20-year period in the pharmaceutical, semiconductor and software industries.

    As a General Partner of Newtek Ventures from 1988 to 1999, John led investments in enterprise software, networking, Internet software and medical companies. In 1982, he helped found Cadnetix, an electronic design automation company where he was Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance and Administration until joining Newtek Ventures.

    Prior to founding Cadnetix, John served as Group Controller-International Field Operations for Intel Corporation from 1978 to 1981 and from 1971 to 1978 was International Group Controller at Syntex Pharmaceuticals.

    John serves on the board of directors of the UCSF Beckman Vision Center and is a member of the advisory board of the Sensory Access Foundation in Palo Alto. He holds a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance and an MBA in Finance from San Jose State University and has done Ph.D work in Finance at the University of Santa Clara.

    Ray Rothrock, Managing General Partner, Venrock Associates Ray Rothrock, Managing General Partner, Venrock Associates

    Ray Rothrock joined Venrock in 1988. His focus is primarily Internet companies and information technology in general.

    Ray serves on the board of Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP) of Tel Aviv, Israel and a number of private boards including: Imaginova Corp., Imperva, Inc., Pedestal Software, Inc., Qpass, Inc., PGP Inc., Red Seal Systems, Vontu and Whole Security, Inc. He previously served on the boards of Spyglass, DIGEX, Inc. (acquired by Intermedia Communications) and Haystack Labs (acquired by Trusted Information Systems/Network Associates). He also led Venrock's investment in DoubleClick (NASDAQ: DCLK). Ray also previously served on the board of the following successful private companies: NanoGram Devices Corp. (acquired by Wilson Greatbatch) and P-Cube, Inc. (acquired by Cisco Systems, Inc.).

    Ray received a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A & M University, an S.M. in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. with Distinction from the Harvard Business School.

    Ray is presently on the board of The Texas A&M Foundation, the Department of Nuclear Engineering Visiting Committee of MIT, and is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Woodside Priory School.

    Praveen Gupta, Executive Director, CDIB Ventures Praveen Gupta, Executive Director, CDIB Ventures

    Mr. Gupta has been with CDIB Ventures since July 1998 focused on investments in early to late stage IT companies. Prior to his VC career, he had over 16 years of diversified operating experience in technology and service companies such as Lucent, Ericsson, Fujitsu-ICL, Halliburton, and Tata Consultancy Services. Mr. Gupta has successfully planned and launched multiple new products into the global market by bringing various business functions to work together. He is an author of an essay ("Venture Capital - Beginning to End") and a book ("The Role of Board Members in Venture-Backed Companies"). He has also taught Telecommunication, R&D Management, and Innovation Management at the University of Phoenix. Mr. Gupta has served as a Board Member/Observer at various venture-backed companies. Mr. Gupta completed his Executive MBA from Golden Gate University, MSCS from University of Texas, MSEE from IIS, Bangalore (India), M.Sc. (Physics) from IIT, Roorkee (India).

    Laura Brege, Partner, Red Rock Ventures Laura Brege, Partner, Red Rock Ventures

    Laura Brege was formerly Chief Financial Officer at COR Therapeutics, Inc., a publicly held biopharmaceutical company. Prior to COR, she held senior financial positions at Flextronics and The Cooper Companies. Earlier she had several banking positions in Chicago. Laura has a B.S. in economics and a B.A. in government from Ohio University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.

    Brendan Richardson, Partner, Vision Capital Brendan Richardson, Partner, Vision Capital

    Before joining Vision in 1997 as a Senior Associate, Brendan spent four years with Dominion Ventures, a venture capital firm in San Francisco with more than 150 portfolio companies. He worked in Dominion's venture-leasing program both in San Francisco and Boston.

    At Vision Capital, Brendan is responsible for international deal sourcing in communication infrastructure companies including components, semiconductors and carrier class software and systems.. He is also responsible for deal sourcing in Ireland and the U.K. He has been responsible for Vision Capital's investments in Altitun, Massana and Nanomuscle.

    Prior to his career in venture capital, Brendan worked as the Director of Sponsorship for the Whitewater World Championships; as an Analyst in the Asset Management division of Wells Fargo Private Banking and as a strategic consultant with Strategic Planning Associates in Washington D.C.

    Brendan holds a BS in finance and management from the University of Virginia. He speaks English natively and French conversationally.

    Bret Wilbur, Regional Sales Consultant, Trinet Bret Wilbur, Regional Sales Consultant, Trinet

    Bret Wilbur has been in the HR Outsourcing business since 1998 in sales, sales management, and marketing roles. At TriNet he is a Regional Sales Consultant focused on providing his expertise to technology and professional services companies in the greater Bay Area. Prior to TriNet, Bret was with Administaff and Adecco. He is also a licensed benefits broker.

    Bret's business interests include developing return on investment models for Outsourcing services, building channel opportunities, and speaking to business owners about outsourcing services. Bret is also a speaker/instructor with the Small Business Administration.

    Bret received his B.S. in English from Southern Oregon University. He has written two unpublished novels, enjoys travel, and has eaten Chinese food in 17 countries.
