    Steve Hill, Managing Partner, Millennium Ventures Steve Hill, Managing Partner, Millennium Ventures

    With over thirty years of professional experience in the oil and gas industry, Steve Hill continues to consult in related capacities with major companies through his engineering and consulting firm, S.R. Hill and Associates International Inc. out of Houston, Texas.

    Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he completed his primary and secondary education in Europe as the son of an Air Force colonel stationed abroad. He speaks French, Spanish and Portuguese. After attending Brown University on a military ROTC scholarship, he graduated from Bryant College with a B.S. in Economics in 1971 and obtained a MBA at Boston University in 1973. After college, Steve served in the Air Force on active duty from 1973 to 1977 and in the Air Force Reserves until 1998. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

    During his professional career, he engaged in managing MEGA-EPIC (100+mil) projects and developing business for esteemed companies including Husky Oil-Canada, Vetco Offshore, Global Marine, Santa Fe Engineers and Constructors, Asea Brown Bovari, Ocean Energy, Halliburton/Brown & Root, and Martima-Ltd./Brazil. He managed major projects in South America, the Mid East, Pacific Rim and West Africa.

    He spent seventeen years with ASEA Brown Bovier (ABB) and was named the Top Business Development executive in ABB in 1992-1993. During his last two years (1995-1997) with ABB, he served as Vice President of Major Projects for ABB’s Oil, Gas and Power sectors, residing in West Africa, where he had the responsibility for such projects known as “Wellhead to Wireline,” on a Turnkey EPIC approach.

    More recently, he served as a Vice President of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co, Ltd. with direct responsibilities for advising Hyundai’s Senior Executives on EPIC strategies in the area of Deep Water SPAR/TLP/FPSO and onshore power and process projects, primarily in West Africa, with Houston based major oil companies. He served as the client interface and in support of contract negotiations, while contributing to the closing of over two billion USD in Deep Water EPIC contracts with Houston based clients in 2001-2002. He was instrumental in the West-African Pipeline project, securing Chevron-Texaco as an 80% partner.

    Rick Herman is a principal at Catalyst/Hall. He is a former commercial and investment banker, and has served as a strategic consultant for a Big 4 financial services firm. Rick also serves on the boards of numerous privately held corporations. Mr. Herrman holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Baylor University and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was the Kozmetsky Award Winner, and is a CPA.

    In addition to transaction assignments, Cliff Atherton is co-leader of the firm's restructuring practice, and he provides expert testimony in complex commercial litigation. Dr. Atherton has 25 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking. Prior to joining GulfStar Group, he was a Managing Director of McKenna & Company (1992 to 1995), the President of Emprise Consulting Group, Inc. (1990 to 1992), and an independent consultant (1978 to 1990). Dr. Atherton has served on the faculty of Rice University's Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Administration since 1980, where he has taught a variety of classes in Corporate Finance and Investment Banking. He also has specialized in working with family businesses, and he organized and served as program director for Rice's Forum for Closely Held Businesses. Dr. Atherton was an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the University of Houston from 1993 to 1997. He earned a B.A. from Rice University and Ph.D. and M.B.A. degrees from The University of Texas. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and serves on the boards of DuraTherm, Inc. and Houston Achievement Place.
