    Ed Olkkola, General Partner, Austin Ventures Ed Olkkola, General Partner, Austin Ventures

    Ed Olkkola joined Austin Ventures in 1998 and focuses on hardware investing. Prior to joining the firm, he was with Compaq Computer Corp, serving as vice president and general manager of the communications division. Prior to his operating role, he was vice president of business development and strategic technology planning at Compaq. Before joining Compaq, Ed spent 10 years with the Motorola Information Systems Group in a variety of engineering, marketing, strategy and finance roles. At Compaq, he led a number of industry-wide initiatives, including the Universal ADSL coalition of Compaq, Intel, Microsoft, and major telecommunications carriers and equipment vendors which helped jumpstart the product development and rollout of commercial DSL service offerings. He has brought dozens of new products to market during his Compaq and Motorola careers, acquired several companies totaling over a billion dollars, and invested in several startup companies during his Compaq tenure, generating top quartile venture returns. He currently serves on the advisory boards of StarTECH II, an incubator in the Richardson, TX Telecom Corridor, and Sternhill Partners, an IT focused venture firm in Houston, TX. He holds patents in core communications and network technologies including home networking and real-time signal processing.

    Ed received his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, holds an MBA from Northeastern University, and completed the Compaq executive leadership program at Harvard University.

    Amit Bhargava, Principal, eCentury Capital Amit  Bhargava, Principal, eCentury Capital

    Amit has worked in the venture capital industry for several years, focusing on information technology companies. Just prior to his venture capital career, Amit co-founded and successfully sold a technology startup that is now part of Leap Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq: LWIN). Previously, he was at McKinsey & Company where he led engagements in strategy, sales and marketing, and operations at leading corporations worldwide. Earlier in his career, he spent seven years at Motorola, Inc. where he led advanced technology and product development projects targeted at the enterprise market. While at Motorola, he was awarded four patents and also authored several papers and a book.

    Amit received his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, a MSEE from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and a BSEE from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India.

    Amit is actively involved with Alereon, Evergreen Assurance, Maxion Technologies and Syncrodyne Systems Corporation. Amit lives in Maryland with his wife and two children. He enjoys playing squash and considers himself to be an enthusiastic but inept golfer.
