Scott Kelly Founder and CEO of Black Dog Venture Partners, is a 25 year fundraising, marketing, sales, training and publicity veteran. Scott has raised millions of dollars in capital for disruptive companies, garnered national media coverage for hundreds of regional and national brands and generated millions of dollars in revenues for the companies he has represented.

He has also trained over 1,000 sales people and has taught marketing at the university level in the United States and Europe.

Michael Hool is our founding Partner. Michael works with select companies as an advisor, legal counsel and periodically serves in executive and board capacities. Michael practice is focused primarily on corporate and commercial representation, securities, finance and venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance matters, and all aspects of counseling emerging companies. He represents both issuing companies and investors in a large variety of financing transactions.

Michael broad merger and acquisition experience ranges from very large transactions such as the acquisition and financing of an NHL hockey franchise, several roll-up acquisitions combined with a public offering of the acquirer, the sale of health care systems, consolidation of 71 franchise operations, to acquisition and sale of a variety of closely-held and emerging enterprises. Michael has assisted clients in structuring many different types of venture relationships, including: (i) a joint venture of seven health care systems; (ii) creating an intellectual property consortium whose members included the U.S. Army, universities and fortune 500 companies, and (iii) creating manufacturing and research joint ventures between U.S. companies and those in Mexico and India.

Roger King, Founder, Bay Angels

Roger King is the Founder of Bay Angels, one of the oldest Angel groups in the Bay Area. Bay Angels have helped launch a number of well-known companies, including OpenTable, Photobucket, and CashBet.

Roger is the Founder and CEO of ChiefPeople, an executive & technical recruitment firm. He’s an active angel investor, board member and advisor to a number of tech start-ups, including Manage, Cashbet, GetPinn, and TRPZ.

Roger is the Founder and lead investor of www.pree.it, a social media research platform. He’s been published in Forbes and Fortune magazine and has appeared on CNN News as a subject matter expert (start-ups/recruiting).

Bradley B. Bertoch, President of VentureCapital.org

Bradley B. Bertoch serves as President of VentureCapital.org—a 33year old nonprofit, nationally recognized, entrepreneurship/technology commercialization organization.

VC.org does two things very well: 1) Picks potential winners, and 2) turn them into winners through a venture community based mentoring program. Studies show that 70% of VC.org Alumni raise capital, and 80% are still in business after 10 years. Since 2009, Utah companies participating in a VC.org venture program have gone on to raise over $1.1 billion in Angel/venture capital transactions, and account for over 30,000 jobs.

He is a member of SLC and Park City angel groups and founder of WBI Angels, was a venture partner with Hamilton Bio-Ventures Fund II, and currently runs a $7 million venture debt fund for Salt Lake County.

Dmitriy Chebotarev, General Partner, Oxford Fund Managers, LLC.

Dmitriy Chebotarev is the Founder and Manager of the General Partner, Oxford Fund Managers, LLC. Mr. Chebotarev is also the Founder, President and Chairman of Oxford Investment Partners, LLC, an Orange County-based real estate investment company, and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vosht Healthcare, a newly-formed medical service provider in the neurological care space.

Mr. Chebotarev was born in Moscow, Russia and maintains dual citizenship between the United States and the Russian Federation. He spent his formative years as an avid researcher of diplomatic and regional history, and his adult years as a proponent of intelligent relations between Russia and the US. He has a large network of political and business contacts that he is actively involved with to discuss the current state of affairs with Russia and how a strong relationship can be formed with a positive net impact on the US society and economy.

From 2013 - present, Mr. Chebotarev has served as President and Chairman of Oxford Investment Partners, LLC, an Orange County-based real estate investment company. As President and Chairman of Oxford Investment Partners, LLC, Mr. Chebotarev oversees all business development, operations and investor relationships in the firm’s occupied real estate markets, which include retail value add/ground up, land subdivision/assemblage, ground-up multifamily, hospitality value add and industrial value add/ground up. Mr. Chebotarev guides the firm’s acquisition strategy and mentors the management team in practices, processes and techniques that facilitate and promote strong investor-focused relationships.

Beginning in 2016, Mr. Chebotarev has also served as Chief Executive Officer of Vosht Healthcare, a newly-formed medical service provider in the neurological care space. As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Chebotarev oversees all business operations of the company, which is focused on providing medical services in connection with the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from neuro-degenerative disorders, dementia and development delay.

Mr. Chebotarev is also actively involved with a non-profit organization that researches the brain and diseases that are associated with it.

Prior to Oxford Investment Partners, LLC, Mr. Chebotarev held key roles in the following companies:

- DaVita Healthcare Partners - A Fortune 500 company where Mr. Chebotarev led business critical operations, oversaw and conducted complex financial audits, and implemented strategic corporate process improvement initiatives.

- Berkley Enterprises & Cambridge Companies - While at Cambridge, a well-respected investment firm out of Las Vegas, Mr. Chebotarev led the business development team as Chief Business Development Officer. His focus was on strategic joint-equity partnerships and developing and maintaining investor relations through sustainable finance and analytics.

Mr. Chebotarev is a member of several charitable and professional organizations and maintains that it is extremely important to be active in the local community. Some of the organizations that Mr. Chebotarev is a member of include:

- Mensa & Triple Nine Society – where passion, motivation and intelligence collide.

- Lincoln Club Orange County – a group comprised of prominent business men and women.

- The Pacific Club – Nationally recognized as one of the most prestigious private city clubs in the country

Mr. Chebotarev lives in Orange County, California where he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing guitar, and the occasional squash match with friends. He is actively involved in the investment/finance industry as well as California/National politics and is recognized as a subject matter expert in both.

Lars Christensen, Angel Investor

Angel Investor Lars Christensen is the CEO & Founder of TouchPoint Promotions.

Lars is looking at Early deals in Business Products, Marketing and Financial Services.  Looking to invest between $100,000 to $3,000,000 primarily with companies with revenue in excess of $100,000. Based in Mesa, AZ. Looking for deals in: North America

TouchPoint's goal was to create a truly customer-centric, first-class promotion company.  Lars started the company in a basement with a credit card when he was 26. TouchPoint has distinguished itself as one of the country’s premier promotional fulfillment companies, boasting an impeccable customer service record and an enviable client roster, including General Motors, GE,  Discount Tire, McKesson and Continental Tire. Lars recently sold TouchPoint to Blackhawk Network, a public company from the Bay Area, and is looking for opportunities to invest in other companies where he can provide value. 

Prior to establishing TouchPoint, Lars worked in Marketing at Qwest Communications, where he was responsible for the company’s high speed DSL internet service, among other products and services. Other experience includes a successful career in marketing and sales with PepsiCo, where he had the opportunity to hone his business, marketing and communications skills under the mentorship of some talented marketing executives. Both of these career opportunities helped Lars shape his vision and business philosophies at TouchPoint, which are founded on the principles of superb quality, personalized service, and the ability to exceed customers’ expectations.   Lars has also had success in commercial real estate, alternative lending and advising other entrepreneurs. 

A native of Arizona, Lars is an avid fan of the local sports teams, particularly Arizona State.  Lars has a degree in Marketing and enjoys the diversity of managing  and growing companies. He and his wife have four children, and enjoy hiking, traveling and attending sporting events.

Mark Hagar - Regional Angel Investment Network

Mark Hagar is the Managing Member of the Regional Angel Investment Network based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

One of today’s most experienced and knowledgeable business consultants, speakers and expert witnesses he’s a prolific entrepreneur who’s founded, bought and sold multiple firms. His experience and education in the area of financially distressed businesses has positioned Hagar as one of the foremost authorities on the issues faced by business owners and he is regularly interviewed by and quoted in media outlets including the Wall Street Journal, CNN, Fiscal Times Magazine, CFO Magazine and the Associated Press.

Mark is a Doctoral Candidate at the prestigious Cranfield University School of Management in Bedford England, a Faculty Lecturer at numerous US-based universities and a featured speaker on the Results Junkies North American Tech Tour. He has recently been named Entrepreneur-in-Residence for the Newcastle School of Business at Northumbria University in Newcastle England and is a member of the Small Business Charter of England.

Tom Cervantez - HBS Angels Co-Founder

Tom Cervantez works in operations with Accelerator Ventures (AVC) in San Francisco, is a real estate investor and lawyer/advisor for early stage ventures. Tom brings strong deal background AVC, having been a venture deal lawyer since 1992 and completed hundreds of financings and M&A transactions in Silicon Valley.

Tom has also co-founded 2 companies that were subsequently acquired, Geonet (acquired by Level 3 Networks) and Britton Silberman & Cervantez LLP (Acquired by Thelen Reid & Priest). Tom also presently is a founding partner with Bizlaw, a law firm that works with venture capital and startup clients in Silicon Valley.

On the investment side, Tom has been an active angel investor since the early 1990s, with investments including Open Table (IPO), Friendster (acquired by MOL Global), Knowledgeweb (acquired by iVillage), Virtual Chips (acquired by Phoenx Technologies), Three Rings (acquired by SEGA), Specialty Café & Bakery (acquired by Cadena Comercial USA/FEMCO) and Survox (acquired by Enghouse Interactive).

Tom also co-founded the HBS Alumni Angels, the global angel investment alumni group for Harvard Business School and the HBS Latino Alumni Association. Tom is also on the Board of the HBS Alumni Association of Northern California and recently completed his 3 year term on the HBS Global Alumni Advisory Board.

Tom speaks frequently on topics of venture investment and deal structuring, including at UC Berkeley, Stanford and Harvard. Tom holds a BA in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University and a JD/MBA from Harvard University.

Randy Norton - Green Mesa Capital

Mr. Norton is a Managing Partner, the Global Head of Real Estate and Alternative Investments at Green Mesa Capital (GMC), a single-family office headquartered in Henderson, Nevada (2014 to present). Prior to co-founding GMC, Mr. Norton was a Partner, Head of Investments & Research at National Capital Partners (NCP), a real estate private equity fund targeting distressed assets and note purchases (2008 – 2013). Prior to NCP, Mr. Norton was an Analyst for Daniels Capital Partners (DCP), a real estate private equity fund focused on the entitlement and development of raw land (2004 – 2007). Prior to DCP, Mr. Norton founded MotiVox, a customized VoIP Video Conferencing software for file sharing and online collaboration, later evolving into an MSDN Partner of Microsoft. MotiVox was a Korea-based venture which was created while consulting for Korea Petroleum (2002 – 2004). Mr. Norton was an interpreter for the Korean Olympic Committee and Korean Paralympic Committee during the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics.

Mr. Norton is a member of the Alternative Investment Management Association, CAIA Association, CCIM Institute, CFA Institute, Construction Financial Management Association, Institute of Real Estate Management, and is actively involved with NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association, Pension Real Estate Association, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, The Counselors of Real Estate, Urban Land Institute, and U.S. Green Building Council. Mr. Norton currently serves as a Director of VeriComply, Inc. (2016 to present), volunteers as a mentor to students at the UNLV Lee Business School’s Finance Department, and volunteers for the UNLV Lied Institute for Real Estate. After graduating with University Honors in Korean and Business from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School of Management (2000 – 2005), Mr. Norton completed executive programs at the Harvard Business School-Graduate School of Design (2007 – 2008), and Columbia Business School-Heilbrunn Center for Graham & Dodd Investing (2012 – 2013). Mr. Norton was previously published in the Real Estate Finance Journal, is a contributor for Forbes, GuruFocus, and is Author of the pending book: "Applied Value Investing in Real Estate."

Timothy Moran - Precedo Capital Group

Managing Partner at Precedo Capital Group.  Tim has been in financial services industry for 25 years.  He started in New York in 1992 and is a graduate of Santa Clara University.  A native Arizonan with a passion for entrepreneurial spirit, family, rugby, and finance.  

Phillip Grimm - SLC Angels

Phillip H. Grimm is a leader and mentor with more than 30 years of success guiding both large and growth-oriented companies including Motorola, Bowmar Instrument Corporation, DOD Electronics Corp., Group Bull Information Systems, US Currency Protection Corp, GeoTrax, DxNA and others. While his traditional education, obtained at Brigham Young University was in accounting, economics and finance he recognized early in his career that his technological, tactical and strategic thinking provided him the tools to guide organizations at the CEO level. Today he focuses on developing early stage or growth oriented businesses through the delicate challenges associated with gaining product recognition and acceptance, building industry leading management teams, organizing financial instruments to support business growth and negotiating key relationships and contracts. He also remains actively engaged in the angel investing community, as the Executive Director for SLC Angels, a Trustee on the Board of the Wayne Brown Institute and serving in various Board related capacities.

Rob Vickery, Co-founder of Stage Venture Partners

Rob is a Co-Founder of Stage Venture Partners, which is a seed venture capital fund that invests in emerging technology for B2B markets. Stage invests in Founders building frontier technology for enterprise clients. We offer access, services, and expertise that are unique in our market, leading to remarkable results for our portfolio. We are not thesis, geographic or sector focused, but instead business model focused. We invest only in software companies that solve problems for companies, monetizing either through SAAS or transaction fees. Before founding Stage with Alex Rubalcava, Rob held a number of executive roles within large financial institutions in the UK and the US, mostly making and managing large scale technology and entertainment investments. He has also spent a number of years working and advising a range of international music and film talent on embracing with new forms of technology. Rob is also on the boards and committees of the British Academy of Film Television Arts (BAFTA) LA Games, British American Business Council, South Central Scholars and the Chairman of the School of Business & Entrepreneurship at Dorsey High School. In his downtime, Rob is an amateur paleontologist, outdoors enthusiast, snowboarder and gaming addict.
