    Scott Kelly Founder and CEO of Black Dog Venture Partners, is a 25 year fundraising, marketing, sales, training and publicity veteran. Scott has raised millions of dollars in capital for disruptive companies, garnered national media coverage for hundreds of regional and national brands and generated millions of dollars in revenues for the companies he has represented.

    He has also trained over 1,000 sales people and has taught marketing at the university level in the United States and Europe.

    Michael Hool is our founding Partner. Michael works with select companies as an advisor, legal counsel and periodically serves in executive and board capacities. Michael practice is focused primarily on corporate and commercial representation, securities, finance and venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance matters, and all aspects of counseling emerging companies. He represents both issuing companies and investors in a large variety of financing transactions.

    Michael broad merger and acquisition experience ranges from very large transactions such as the acquisition and financing of an NHL hockey franchise, several roll-up acquisitions combined with a public offering of the acquirer, the sale of health care systems, consolidation of 71 franchise operations, to acquisition and sale of a variety of closely-held and emerging enterprises. Michael has assisted clients in structuring many different types of venture relationships, including: (i) a joint venture of seven health care systems; (ii) creating an intellectual property consortium whose members included the U.S. Army, universities and fortune 500 companies, and (iii) creating manufacturing and research joint ventures between U.S. companies and those in Mexico and India.

    Michael acts as general counsel to private equity funds, high net-worth investors and emerging companies. Michael represents or advises accelerators, incubators, and has formed angel investment groups. Michael has chaired or served on the board of Arizona Venture Capital Conference, BioAccel, AzTech Investors, and the Indus Entrepreneurs. To date, his companies have generated over $1 Billion in revenue and $450 Million in liquidity to stakeholders. An avid poker player, he's won a World Series of Poker Championship, produced an award-winning instructional video, and has helped raise millions of dollars for cancer prevention and other charitable causes. Rafe is a pioneer in Quantitative Venture Capital, a nascent field based on the convergence of equity crowdfunding, complexity economics and securities law reform. He holds a B.S. in Symbolic Systems and M.S. in Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence from Stanford University.

    In Phoenix, was on the board of ASU's Technopolis, Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Instructor for LaunchPad/LaunchPrep entrepreneurship programs, and ASU TechBA mentor, coaching companies from Mexico. He is on the Management Committee and Selection Panel for Invest Southwest Capital Conference's Venture Madness.     Rick was an early shareholder in Bill Gross' Idealab and founded one of its first companies, E-Ticket Inc, which merged with Nederlander Organization's RealTime Syndication Network to become FeatureCast Inc. Rick served as Vice-Chairman. FeatureCast secured online license for and executive-produced: Fox's America's Most Wanted, Teen Magazine and National Enquirer. Rick participated in strategic planning with the ten original Idealab CEOs. Idealab created several well-known technology companies including: Overture (acquired by Yahoo for $1.6B), United Online (was NetZero and Juno), Aptera, Internet Brands, CitySearch, Energy Innovations, eSolar, Desktop Factory, Picasa, Tickets.com, eToys and Evolution Robotics.     Rick co-founded GNP Development Corp and in 1986 they sold it to Lotus Development Corp for $10 million. In 1991, they co-founded Knowledge Adventure Inc, which in 1996 they sold to Cendant for $100 million. Knowledge Adventure became the world's largest children's CD-ROM edutainment software company (almost $400 million in annual revenues), owned by Universal Studios, known for 'JumpStart' (20 million units sold) and 'Blaster' series.

    1986-1991, Rick consulted to software companies including Ashton-Tate, Que Software/Macmillan and SPSS Inc, and arranged sales of technology to Symantec, Microlytics and Paramount Publishing. Rick directed a division of Ashton-Tate and was Chairman of 4-5-6 WORLD. Earlier, Rick directed national sales/marketing and helped start or re-start: Fisher Corp, KLH, Ultralinear and Androbot Inc (personal robot start-up by Nolan Bushnell, who founded Atari and Chuck E Cheese). Rick began his career as one of the first store managers for The GAP Inc, which has 3,200 stores worldwide including Old Navy and Banana Republic.
