    Don Rainey joined Grotech Ventures in 2007 and focuses on investment opportunities in e-commerce, internet and networking technologies. Don currently serves or has served on the boards of Grotech portfolio companies Booker Software, Clarabridge, HelloWallet (acquired by Morningstar), Intellinote, Payzer, LivingSocial, Passport, Personal, The Royalty Exchange, WiserTogether and Zenoss.

    Don is a strong proponent of technology transfer and education and devotes much time to both areas. In 2010, he was appointed to a third term as an emerging technology consultant to the Chief Information Officer of the US Department of Defense through the DeVenCi Program, which is tasked with researching and nominating companies to solve the DoD unmet technology needs. In 2011, Don was appointed to the JMU Board of Visitors by Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell. During this four year appointment, he and other board members are responsible for overseeing the effective governance of the university. He also serves on the Board of Directors of James Madison Innovations, Inc., a non-profit corporation which helps commercialize intellectual property produced at JMU. In 2012, he was named to the Board of Directors of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Investment Authority, which is the parent authority for The Center for Innovative Technology.

    Don is also an Organizing Board member of the prestigious MindShare forum. In this role, he helps CEOs from the Washington Metropolitan region most promising start-ups build long-term sustainable companies. This invitation-only group provides its annual CEO class with an opportunity to meet peers, potential board members and prominent speakers in an intimate setting to exchange ideas and discuss current issues facing start-up companies. To date, more than 400 CEOs have graduated from the program, including some of the area most notable entrepreneurs.

    Senior Vice President Abhishek (AJ) Ratani manages DirectStarTV, Red Ventures largest and most long-standing business.

    DirectStarTV generates customers for DIRECTV, the nation largest satellite television provider. AJ oversees all aspects of the business including strategy, sales, operations, marketing and cost management.

    In his previous role at Red Ventures, AJ led company-wide sales operations and managed Red Ventures mover channel, including a marketing partnership with a major moving services provider.

    He joined Red Ventures in 2005 as a web developer. Before his career at Red Ventures, AJ served as a web application and systems developer at the Center for Advanced Engineering Environments which worked on specific projects for the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.

    He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor degree in computer engineering and earned his master degree in computer science from the University of Florida.
