    Oz Bengur co-founded the firm with Charles Bryan. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions and private placements for emerging restaurant companies and consumer and business services companies. Mr. Bengur has also managed the development of early stage restaurant companies and served as CEO of PJPA, LLC, which has owned and operated up to 53 Papa John Pizza restaurants.

    Mr. Bengur also serves as Chairman of PJPA, LLC, a Papa John Pizza franchisee, which he co-founded with Charles Bryan. PJPA currently owns and operates 23 Papa Johns restaurants in New Jersey and Delaware.

    Mr. Bengur holds an A.B. Degree from Princeton University and a graduate diploma from The University of Cambridge, England.

    Caron De Mars has been a Foreign Service Officer the State Department since 2001, when she came from the private sector. She was a Director of Claims Operations for the Midwest for USAA Insurance, and had also owned two small businesses. She has had experience as an angel investor and was on the board of an Austin startup.

    As the Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Program (GEP), she leads a team to grow entrepreneurial ecosystems around the world through connecting private partners with U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide. GEP supports Entrepreneurs in Residence; organizes pitch competitions and angel investor training worldwide through partners; leads delegations of American entrepreneurs and investors to share best practices with foreign counterparts; and identifies speakers to travel to promote entrepreneurship.

    Since entering the Foreign Service, she has served in Brazil, the Philippines, Jordan, and Washington. Caron has a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting from the University of Wyoming, a Masters of Business Administration from St. Mary University, and post-graduate studies for a year at GWU. She is a Wyoming native who enjoys the outdoors, scuba diving, music, travel, cinema, plays, and foreign affairs.

    In his capacity as an executive and business strategist, Jeff has helped organizations from start-ups to established middle-market companies and government agencies create operational strategies and business ecologies aimed at inspiring knowledge worker performance. His diverse background and experience has helped companies create everything from new office environments and online offerings to completely new innovative business models.

    As a thought leader in the areas of stakeholder management and the emerging discipline of Conscious Capitalism, Jeff had the honor of consulting with authors David Wolfe and Raj Sisodia on their book Firms of Endearment, How World Class Companies Profit from Passion and Purpose, which was published in 2007. Jeff later expanded on the ideas of Conscious Capitalism to form Concinnity Advisors, a hedge fund focused on identifying and investing in companies operating from a more holistic, long-term value mindset.

    Valerie Gaydos is an active angel investor and Founder of the Angel Venture Forum. She has been involved with many start-up companies in the areas of operational development and strategic planning for more than 20 years. She is the founder and president of Capital Growth, Inc. (CGI) which was founded in 1994 as a venture capital data and information publishing company. CGI currently specializes in business building and actively invests in early stage companies. She is also president of Fifty-First Associates, LLC, an association management and government relations firm in Pennsylvania.

    From 2004-2007 Valerie served as President of the Pennsylvania Angel Network. She also served as director of the Private Investors Forum (Philadelphia) and the annual Angel Venture Fair (AVF) - a consortium of angel investors from 2004-2010. She is a member of the Lancaster Angel Network, a founding director of the Center for New Technology Enterprise and serves on the Policy Committee of the Angel Capital Association (ACA).

    Valerie previously served as an Analyst for the Pennsylvania State Senate and worked for Senate leadership. She also served as Staff Assistant for Pennsylvania U.S. Senator H. John Heinz,III.

    Kim Weir is the Deputy Executive Director of MAVA (Mid-Atlantic Venture Association), a post she has held since 2011. As a part of the senior leadership team of MAVA, her work focuses primarily on the organizations strategic outreach and program development. Kim is responsible for developing new strategic partnerships, engaging with targeted corporate partners and designing high-impact programs to serve MAVA members and the company-builders at the center of MAVA mission.

    Prior to joining MAVA, Kim successfully launched and managed a business development services firm, Starting Gate Global, where she worked closely with MAVA in early 2011. Prior to launching her own firm, she spent 7 years developing and implementing new programs and marketing initiatives for the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, International Division, including her creation and leadership of the nationally recognized, innovative export-promotion VALET (Virginia Leaders in Export Trade).

    Kim is an enthusiastic champion of innovative companies and the teams that build them, and a high-energy advocate for the dynamic ecosystem of the Mid-Atlantic business community that fosters and supports the companies building the technologies that are shaping our world every day.

    Kim received her M.B.A from the Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary in 2005 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts (Spanish and International Relations), with distinction, from the University of Virginia in 1991. Kim is originally from San Diego. She is married, lives in Old Town Alexandria and spends most of her non-MAVA moments engaged in an array of equestrian activities.
