Victor Chaltiel, Founder, Redhills Ventures
Mr. Chaltiel has 30+ years of experience as an executive in the healthcare industry and until recently served as Founder and Chairman of HealthDataInsights Inc (www.healthdatainsights.com) the industry leader in healthcare claims integrity: fraud, waste, abuse, errors, and overpayments identification and recoupment solutions. HDI was sold on December 16, 2011 to HMS Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: HMSY) for $400 million in cash. Mr. Chaltiel is also (1) Chairman of Trustifi Corporation (www.trustifi.com), a provider of paperless solutions focused on the Healthcare, Government, Enterprise and Financial Services markets, (2) a Member of the Board of Directors of Adore Me (www.adoreme.com), a personalized online lingerie club, which offers designer lingerie and swimwear at affordable prices, (3) a Member of the Board of Directors of Health Data Vision, Inc. (www.healthdatavision.com), a company that provides SaaS-based healthcare analytics platforms and process automation for medical records, (4) a Member of the Board of Directors of Global Medical Isotope Systems, a patent-pending system for the production of medical isotopes for the nuclear medicine imaging industry, and (5) a Member of the Board of Directors of Leapfrog Systems, an add-on residential irrigation controller. Before founding Redhills Ventures and for five years, from August 1994 to August 1999, Mr. Chaltiel served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of publicly held Total Renal Care Holdings, Inc now Davita (NYSE: DVA), the nation’s second largest provider of renal dialysis services with annual revenues then well in excess of $1 billion.
Before joining DVA, he served for more than five years (1989-1994) as Chairman and CEO of then publicly-listed Total Pharmaceutical Care, a leading provider of home healthcare and infusion therapy services, which was subsequently acquired by Abbey, and is now known as Apria Healthcare Group. From 1985 to 1988, Mr. Chaltiel served as President, Chief Operating Officer and a Director of Salick Health Care, Inc., a then publicly-held company focusing on the development of outpatient cancer and dialysis treatment centers, which was later acquired by Zeneca (NYSE: ZEN).
Prior to May 1985, Mr. Chaltiel was associated for 18 years with Baxter International, Inc (NYSE: BAX), holding numerous corporate and divisional management positions, including Corporate Group Vice President, responsible for international operations and five domestic divisions (revenues then well in excess of $1 Billion); President of Baxter’s Artificial Organs (Dialysis) Division; Vice President of its International Division; Area Managing Director for Europe and President of its French operations. During his tenure with Baxter, Mr. Chaltiel was instrumental in the successful development and worldwide commercialization of Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD), currently the leading home dialysis treatment modality. He was honored by the National Kidney Foundations of Northern and Southern California, as well as those in New York and the Capital Area.
Mr. Chaltiel also (1) is a Board Member of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation (NYSE: LVS) (www.lasvegassands.com), and (2) has been appointed to the Board of Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) (www.diversifynevada.com).
Mr. Chaltiel is active in several community and non-profit organizations, including the United Way (Million Dollar Roundtable). He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the American Committee of the Weizmann Institute of Science (ACWIS) (www.weizmann-usa.org) as well as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Adelson Educational Campus (www.adelsoncampus.org) serving grades pre-k through 12.
Mr. Chaltiel is a graduate of the Ecole Superieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (Essec, Paris, France), and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School.
Michael Terpin, Angel Investor
Terpin is the CEO of SocialRadius (www.socialradius.com), one of the nation’s first social media marketing firms, and Transform (www.transform.pr), a global digital PR firm, divisions of Terpin Communications, which launched some of the biggest success stories of the consumer Internet era, including America Online, Earthlink, and The Motley Fool. The Firm currently represents more Bitcoincompanies than any other PR firm in the world, including GoCoin, Gyft, KnCMiner, KryptoKit, and Mastercoin. SocialRadius/Transform is headquartered in Las Vegas, with offices in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.
Michael Terpin also co-founded BitAngels (www.bitangels.co), the world’s first angel network for digital currency startups, in May, 2013, with Engine CEO David Johnston and four other founding members. The distributed angel network currently has more than 300 members, and it has made more than a dozen investments in bitcoin and cryptocurrency companies in its first six months.
Terpin also founded Marketwire, one of the world’s largest and most technologically sophisticated company newswires. Originally known as Internet Wire, Marketwire was acquired in 2006. Terpin holds an MFA in Creative Writing from SUNY at Buffalo and degrees in Newspaper Journalism and English Literature from Syracuse University, where he serves as an advisor to its top-ranked Newhouse School of Public Communications and was inducted into its prestigious Wall of Fame in 2000. Terpin is also an investor and advisor to many media and technology companies, including Engine, Liquipel, Stockr, Virurl, Walls360, YouMail and XFire.
Lena Romanova, Angel Investor
Lena Romanova brings a unique 360 degree perspective of the deal cycle, having been in all 3 sides of the table as VC professional, Investment Banker and Entrepreneur. In addition to managing her family business, she is an active angel investor and board advisor with interests in real estate, lifestyle and fashion, and digital media, with a particular focus on concepts that merge the physical and digital worlds. Lena serves as director and advisor of several startups’ boards both in the US and overseas.
Lena has been working with startup companies for the last 10 years in the US, UK and Eastern Europe. Before joining HgCapital, a later stage LBO fund and spin-off of Merrill Lynch, Lena was part of the investment teams of Ariadne Capital, an early stage technology venture capital firm and Catalyst VC Fund, an early stage fund for eFinance companies. She has been involved in the funding rounds of several successful companies both in the US and overseas: Skype, WILINK, SAGE, NetNames, Americana, BTe, Lloyds Venture Fund, DebtResolve, Intamac, etc.
Lena’s transaction experience started in Morgan Stanley’s Technology, Media & Telecom M&A team. Later, she joined the restructuring and distressed M&A group at Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin. Some of the companies that Lena advised were Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts, Eurotunnel, Chiquita, Agfa, Waterford Wedgwood, Petters Group/Polaroid, Scientific Games,
Her passion is to foster women entrepreneurship, especially in emerging markets in Eastern and Central Europe where she chairs LEROM Foundation for Female Entrepreneurship. Lena graduated with a finance degree from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts in the USA.
Don Sorensen, Angel Investor
Don Sorensen is an accredited investor that is looking to invest $25K per Las Vegas Company. He has been involved in technology companies for over 16 years both as an investor and .NET developer. Don has invested both experience and capital into Companies such as World Soft Solution that contracted to Top Rank Boxing, Wells Fargo, and Station Casinos. After the success of World Soft Solution, he turned to diversify his investments and opened SpoxeModel, a corporate modeling agency that was tailored to conventions and corporate events. Prior to FundingPost, Aaron founded Alumwire, Inc. where he managed corporate networking events during the early days of the Company in Berkeley, CA. He drove the Company's strategic direction, business development, technical activity, and marketing activities as its CEO. Aaron has been named by BusinessWeek as one of "The Top 25 Young Entrepreneurs." Aaron has been also featured on NBC, CBS and CNET. The initial sales of $100K+ from Alumwire's Fortune 500 beta clients led to a $1.4 million dollar financing round. Aaron successfully exited Alumwire in 2011.
