    Mr. Sackman, who serves as the Managing Partner of the General Partner, has extensive experience in private investing. He was a principal at Oryx Capital which over a nine-year period through 2005 invested in excess of $80 million to acquire controlling positions in 15 companies. In 2005, Mr. Sackman encouraged a revision of the investment strategy of Oryx towards early-stage growth capital investing and began an investment sourcing role within Oryx. Upon leaving Oryx Capital, for the past five years Mr. Sackman has continued to be a participant in growth capital industry as an angel investor and through his involvement with Independence Equity and VentureLab, which assist clients with strategic advice and capital sourcing. Earlier in his 30-year career in the finance and investment industries, Mr. Sackman was with Draper and Kramer, Inc., a Chicago real estate company, and Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, where he worked with both domestic and international clients and for one year directed the bank’s MBA recruitment effort. Mr. Sackman received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago. Mr. Sackman is a Trustee and Co-Treasurer of Robert College of Istanbul Turkey; is a Director of Mottahedeh & Co., Inc., Advanced Diamond Technology, Inc., Digital Acoustics, LLC, In-Pipe Technology, Inc., Tagnetics, Inc.; and is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.

Independently Invested in start-ups since early 1990's. Member of Hyde Park Angels since 2008 and until recently invested in every deal that HPA has done since that time.

    David Cruikshank is a Vice President with ARCH, joining the company as an Associate in August 2007. Mr. Cruikshank focuses on semiconductors, advanced materials, consumer electronics, and communications technologies. He has been instrumental leading the due diligence on ARCH investments such as 908 Devices, PixelEXX Systems, Boreal Genomics, and Ciespace, and has provided operating assistance with these companies and assisted as a board observer as well. He also oversees the ARCH internship program with the University of Chicago. Mr. Cruikshank was formerly with Toshiba America Electronic Components as an engineer and manager in Business Development and was responsible for North American audio, video, and automotive semiconductor product lines with annual sales of $50 million. Prior to that, he was with Conexant Systems (originally Rockwell Semiconductor) as an Industrial Engineer. Mr. Cruikshank holds an M.B.A. with Honors from the University of Chicago, an M.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.

    Jeff is a Vice President at New World Ventures, a multi-stage, information technology-focused venture capital firm based in Chicago. Since joining New World in 2008, Jeff has been actively involved in the diligence, investment and oversight of over 20 companies. He was previously a board member at BodyShopBids and a board observer at SinglePlatform (acquired by Constant Contact). Jeff was previously with UBS Investment Bank’s Midwest Group, where he advised clients on a broad range of corporate finance and M&A transactions. He is CEO of Vital Sensors, a cardiovascular device company funded by a combination of angel investors, and venture capitalist firms. His investments include VG-Bio, Verax Biomedical, NuCurrent, Aquamost, Perblue, and King-Devick Test. He is a mentor and advisor to start-ups with HealthBox, iBio Propel, Chicago Innovation Mentors (CIM), Northwestern INVO and University of Chicago UCTech. He is a Managing Director of KB Partners venture firm and leads the life science investments for the firm. Prior to KB Partners, he led Software Development Systems (SDS) to the acquisition by Intel. He formed Tomtec Imaging Systems through the merger of two companies and pioneered 3D cardiovascular ultrasound. He led Medicus Systems Corporation a leading health care IT company through a successful IPO. He received his MS from Loyola University Quinlan Graduate School of Business and his BA from Marquette University. He completed a post-graduate residency in Health Care Management at Rush University. He is a Charter Member of TiE Midwest, and has been a leader in both the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and World Presidents Organization (WPO).

Randy is also the cofounder and curent CEO of Crowd Fund Connect, which designs, builds and manages white label crowd sourcing systems for SEC / FINRA registered broker / dealers. Crowd Fund Connect will be a multiple listing service that connects issuers and accredited investors across multiple broker / dealer sites with shared compensation between cooperating broker / dealers. Randy has had a successful exit from a start-up as the Chief Revenue Officer of $2 Billion public company that was funded by NEA and Menlo Partners. Randy lead sales and marketing efforts that grew the company from $6 million in quarterly revenue to over $45 million in quarterly revenues in less than 2 years with a margin growth over the same period from 45% to 60%. As an executive with Williams Companies in the telecommunications industry, Randy led the sales effort for new product launches with 3 different product lines each eventually exceeding $100 Million in annual revenues under his leadership. Randy has led sales for other private companies funded by Battery Partners, Kleiner Perkins, and Norwest.
