Prior to co-founding i-Hatch, Brad was a founding Partner of Lazard Technology Partners (LTP), the venture capital group of Lazard Frères & Co. LLC. At Lazard, Brad focused on wireless, internet and data communications technologies. Prior to Lazard, Brad was the Acting CFO and Director of Compatible Systems, a developer of IP routers and virtual private networking ("VPN") equipment. Brad raised three rounds of venture financing for Compatible, and was active in both business development and product strategy. Brad introduced the company to Cisco Systems who acquired it in March 2000.

He served as Vice President of Corporate Business Development at Computer Associates International, and prior to Computer Associates' acquisition of Cheyenne Software, served as Cheyenne's Vice President of Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing where he had overall responsibility for corporate and product positioning. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and General Manager of Cheyenne's Unix Division. Prior to Cheyenne, Mr. Finkle was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Applied Programming Technologies, which he represented for sale to Cheyenne in 1993. Early in his career, Mr. Finkle co-founded N/Hance Systems a peripheral manufacturing and software development company. Today Mr. Finkle serves as Chairman of Service Channel Inc, a web based transaction management platform providor to the service maintanance industry, and Managing Member of two TV direct response entities. Mr. Finkle also serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of PSCH a not-for-profit serving the mentally ill and developmentally disabled.

    Nat Brinn has a 25-year successful track record of private investments, acquisitions and business management. The most recent example is HSA Bank, the largest specialty bank in the United States focused on health savings accounts. Nat has successful management experience in growth companies, including his role as CEO of HSA Bank, where accounts and revenues grew four-fold and the firm developed a significant profit margin from an initial loss position.

    Nat’s private equity investments have achieved positive returns, with many returning 4-5x initial investment within several years. In aggregate, he has completed more than 80 transactions with positive results, including the avoidance of any defaults during his tenure as a private placement bond investor.

    Currently he is acting CEO of Vital Financial’s portfolio company, CR Certification Corporation. Nat has significantly built revenues and revamped this company.

    While he was Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Webster Bank, Nat was responsible for mergers and acquisitions as well as strategic initiatives. He also oversaw management of Budget Installment Company, a premium finance company that Webster acquired and grew three-fold in outstanding balances, revenues and profits over three years under his supervision.

    Upon acquiring HSA Bank for Webster, he was appointed to become CEO of HSA Bank. HSA Bank was purchased in early 2005 for a net premium of $12 million and was valued at nearly $100 million upon his departure at CEO in July 2007 to join Vital Financial. Both the Budget Installment and HSA Bank situations involved upgrading IT, financial, compliance and operating systems as well as building national sales organizations.

    Prior to his tenure at Webster Bank, Nat held positions in corporate development (M&A and strategic investing) and private placement investments at Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance and Inspection Company, Phoenix Home Life, Canadian Imperial Bank and Metropolitan Life.

    Nat has an MBA in finance and accounting from The Fuqua School of Business (Duke University), where he was a Fuqua Scholar and his class graduation speaker. He did his undergraduate work in economics, with additional focus in mathematics and statistics, at University of Delaware where he was in the honors program.

He is a venture mentor at ER Accelerator, a New York City incubator and works with a number of organizations to create global entrepreneurial eco-systems, such as angel groups, incubators, and entrepreneur fellowships, such as Endeavor and Echoing Green. Mr. Fernandes is also a serial entrepreneur, co-founding several internet companies and advises a number of startups.

    Additionally, Mr. Fernandes serves as COO of the South African Chamber of Commerce in America (SACCA), where he focuses on facilitating trans-Atlantic business opportunities between the United Stated and South Africa. Previously, Mr. Fernandes worked in investment banking at Credit Suisse, in the asset securitization group at Societe Generale, and raised capital for Latin American corporations at Standard Bank. He graduated a year early from New York University summa cum laude, due to coursework at Harvard University where he studied Quantum Physics and Foreign Policy.

From 1990 through 1994, Jay served as Chairman and CEO of Image Business Systems Corp., a company that provided document management and workflow software. In 1989, he founded Zeitech, Inc., a company which provided computer implementation professionals through its five national offices. Under Jay's direction, Zeitech appeared twice on Inc. Magazine's 500 List of America's fastest growing companies and was sold in January 1996 to Career Horizons, Inc. In 1986, Jay purchased Money Management Systems, Inc. (MMS) from Ziff-Davis. MMS sold software and services to banks and broker-dealers for securities trading activities. In 1989, MMS was sold to Sungard Inc. From 1968 to 1985, Jay was Chairman and CEO of Software Design Associates, a systems development firm that grew to 600 people, which was sold to AGS Computers Inc. Currently, Mr. Goldberg serves on the Boards of several of Hudson's portfolio companies, including: Bigfoot Interactive, GlobalServe, Didera, i-Hello, PowerSteering, and OpenService. Tangoe analysts are forecasting $150M+ in 2012 revenue. It was one of the top 10 IPO’s of 2011 and is the global leader in mobile expense management and a major player in mobile device management.

    Steve is an active angel investor and is on the board of the Angel Investor Forum.

    Steve started his career as a research faculty member at Yale University in the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the Computer Science Department and was a co-founder of two companies in the artificial intelligence area, one of which had an IPO in 1986.

    Steve then started the company that developed Esperant, one of the leading business intelligence tools of the 1990’s, and sold it to Software AG.

    He was also an interim CTO for a number of companies during the dotcom era and was the CTO of Computershare (largest global stock transfer agent) for 5 years.

    Steve is also the author of a book on natural language processing, has spoken at dozens of industry and academic conferences, has published numerous trade and academic articles, and has received two patents.

Earlier in his career, Raju held numerous executive roles at AT&T and Lucent, where he was responsible for R&D, architecture, product management, and GM for the international emerging technologies division. Raju has been (and continues to be) a strategic advisor to numerous early stage companies, including Condaptive (sold to Millennial Media) and Global Bay (sold to Verifone).

    Mr. Richter has broad experience in the venture capital industry, having worked at a number of leading venture firms over the past 8 years. He brings to the Fund extensive experience performing due diligence and portfolio management through multiple venture cycles. Mr. Richter was most recently at Himalaya Capital, having joined in early 2002 as a Principal. Mr. Richter has significant investment experience and has been active on the boards of a number of companies. Mr. Richter additionally brings to Starling a strong technical background in software development and systems administration.

    Prior to Himalaya, Mr. Richter worked at Lucent Technologies in the New Ventures Group, where he focused on the creation and launch of software startups. In addition to Lucent, Mr. Richter has prior venture capital experience working at Softbank Ventures (now Mobius Venture Capital), Jerusalem Global Ventures and Flatiron Partners. Mr. Richter additionally has operational experience as the founder of Zapper Technologies’ US operations, where he formed and built out the company’s US office. Mr. Richter has additional prior experience working in investment banking at Salomon Smith Barney and product development at Dubois, Brown & Co, now a division of SS&C Technologies (Nasdaq: SSNC).

    Douglas joined Connecticut Innovations in 2011 and is responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities, structuring and negotiating new and follow-on investments, and monitoring portfolio companies. Douglas is a board observer for Affinimark Technologies, Discover Video, Engage121, etouches, Continuity Control and LiveClips. In addition, following the investments by CI’s Pre-Seed Fund, Douglas monitors and advises DomaniCom, Notifyi and Raditaz.

    Douglas came to CI with extensive experience in business development and management consulting. Most recently, Douglas founded a consulting firm to help early-stage companies identify and assess growth opportunities, generate sustainable revenue, and manage intellectual property. Previously, as a senior consultant at ipCapital Group, Douglas provided strategic intellectual property advisory services to organizations in the telecommunications, information technology, clean technology, and medical device industries. In addition, he advised investors in intellectual property-based businesses, representing over $250M in invested capital.

    Douglas began his career in the telecommunications industry and has worked for a manufacturer of infrastructure equipment, a global network operator, and a Goldman Sachs funded startup. He was responsible for business development efforts in many international markets including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

    Jeff Frese is the director of mobile products for CNNMoney. He leads all iOS, Android OS, Blackberry OS and Mobile Web Products for CNNMoney. Jeff was previously the director of product sales for Play Megaphone, an out of home advertising firm that enabled users to control digital signage with their mobile phones. Prior to this, he was the founder of Freshman Fund, a social network that helped families save money for college; the company was acquired by GradSave. Early in his career, he served as the manager of production and technology for Viacom Interactive Services.

    Mr. Topche joined MentorTech Ventures in 2007 and serves as a Principal. He was previously a member of the Fund Investments Team at Hamilton Lane Advisors, a fund-of-funds manager and private equity investment consultant. In this capacity, he evaluated private equity funds across a broad spectrum of stages and strategies on behalf of both discretionary and non-discretionary clients. During his time at Hamilton Lane, Mr. Topche reviewed more than 100 funds, including venture capital, mezzanine, buyout and real estate funds. Based in part on reports he drafted, more than $1 billion was invested into these funds.

    Prior to working for Hamilton Lane, Mr. Topche was an Associate with NJTC Venture Fund, where he focused on investments in early-stage companies in the software, Internet and communications sectors. His responsibilities included deal flow generation, initial company reviews, performing due diligence on potential investments, participating in deal structuring, reviewing legal documentation and working with companies post-investment, occasionally as an Observer on Boards of Directors.

    He previously worked for MRA International in real estate development consulting and for the accounting firm Frankel and Topche.

    Mr. Topche is a magna cum laude graduate of the Wharton School, with a B.S. in Economics, with concentrations in Finance and Legal Studies and a Political Science minor from the College and Arts and Sciences.
