    Alan McGlade is a founder and Managing Director of DEV. He is a current advisor and investor in several media companies and a member of the ARC Angel Fund. Mr. McGlade has over two decades of experience in taking companies from early conceptual stage to significant market player in television, and digital media with an emphasis on music.

    For the last nine years Mr. McGlade was the Chief Executive and a member of the Board of Directors of MediaNet. The company powered music and media delivery in five territories in the US and Europe for many of the best known names in the business including AOL, Yahoo, HMV, Virgin, Samsung, Tesco, MTV, Microsoft's Zune and Google.

    Prior to running MediaNet, Mr. McGlade worked at MTV Networks. He joined the company after selling them the contactive music video channel, Video Jukebox Network (The Box), where he served as CEO for five years.

    Prior to his tenure at The Box, Mr. McGlade was the president of StarNet, which provided targeted cable marketing using a national satellite delivery system. Before that McGlade was the founder and president of Adlink, the largest cable advertising interconnect in the country.

    Mr. McGlade's commentaries have appeared in Billboard, Forbes and Multichannel News, among others, and he has appeared on CNBC, CNN Business and PBS.

    Between 1996 and 1998, Mr. Hermon was a Senior Associate with the investment banking department of Bear, Stearns & Co. in New York where he advised Fortune 500 clients in a broad range of industries. Between 1998 and 2001, Mr. Hermon was a partner with the investment partnership Shaykin & Co. in New York. Between 2001 and 2003, Mr. Hermon served as partner at the Challenge Funds which manage over $250 million of capital and have investments in over eighty portfolio companies. Mr. Hermon earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Labor Relations from Tel-Aviv University in 1993 and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Boston University in 1996.

    Wirz works with Knight Foundation staff to develop programs based on realistic business plans. He also consults with select Knight grantees.

    Wirz is a founder of US Global, where he helped take businesses from start-up to profitability. There, Wirz identified, evaluated and managed investments in companies ranging from $500,000 to $10 million. He also served as vice president of strategic planning for a manufacturing company, U.S. Global Glass, and vice president, business development for US Global Synfuel, which invested in and developed energy companies and synthetic fuel projects.

    Wirz completed his MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France and received a master’s in international policy studies and a bachelor’s in international relations from Stanford University. He speaks French, Spanish and Russian.

He began his media career as an on-air announcer and ad sales representative for KSHE Radio in St. Louis.

    Mr. Freschman is a Managing Principal of Innovation Capital Advisors, LLC (ICA). ICA serves as the management company of Innovation Ventures, L.P. (IV), and the Delaware Innovation Fund (DIF). He has served as the President and CEO of the DIF since its establishment in 1995. The DIF is a seed- and early-stage venture capital fund that focuses on entrepreneurial ventures in the Mid-Atlantic region. Mr. Freschman has been responsible for all aspects of IV’s and the DIF’s management since its inception, including the business strategy, fiscal and operational management, raising investment capital, and evaluating all investment opportunities and portfolio company management.

    Mr. Freschman is active in the venture and entrepreneurial communities. He is one of the organizers and initial investors in the Mid-Atlantic Angel Group, where he served on the angel fund's Executive and Investment Committees. He sits on a number of Boards, and has been a lecturer on venture capital, entrepreneurship and angel investing at The White House Conference on Small Business, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, the University of Delaware, Goldey-Beacom College, and Loyola College in Baltimore. He is the creator and founder of Early Stage East – the premier early-stage venture capital event on the East Coast. In 2001, Mr. Freschman was appointed by Gov. Ruth Ann Minner to chair the venture capital study of Delaware’s Strategic Economic Council. Mr. Freschman was appointed and served a three-year term representing New Castle County, Delaware, on the Small Business Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia through 2002.

    Prior to establishing the DIF, Mr. Freschman was responsible for the formation of the corporate finance advisory division of McBride Shopa & Company, one of the largest certified public accounting and consulting firms in Delaware. Mr. Freschman began his career with the Enterprise Group of the Philadelphia office of Arthur Andersen, LLP, from 1984 through 1989. He graduated with honors with an MBA from Loyola College of Maryland and cum laude from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in accounting, where he was a John B. Lynch Scholar. He is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma – the National Honor Society.

    Tom "TK" Kuegler is the co-founder and general partner of Wasabi Ventures.     Michael Bassick is an entrepreneur/financier with over 15 years experience in finance, media, and marketing. Michael is the founder and CEO of Markedia Worldwide, a film finance + branded entertainment studio. In 2006, Markedia launched a film finance business to finance, produce, and bring to market a slate of full-length feature motion pictures. To date, Markedia has been involved in financing the production and distribution of film projects representing over $35 million in invested capital. In 2008, Markedia launched a tax credit finance business that enables content producers to monetize tax credits in advance of production to finance a portion of the film.

    Michael is Executive Producer on The Ten, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2007 and distributed theatrically in August 2007, and Executive Producer of Descent, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2007 and had a Summer 2007 release. Michael produced the feature-length documentary One Wrong Move and I’m Dead: Kerouac’s Big Sur, about the life and times of the iconic American writer Jack Kerouac, distributed by Atlantic Records, and is currently developing and packaging the feature film of the same title. Other films include the psychological thriller CHOOSE (2010), VALEDICTION (2011), Salvation Boulevard (2011), Bernie (2011), and Revenge of the Green Dragons (development).

    As a pioneer in the branded entertainment industry and cable television producer, Michael has worked with consumer brands and media companies in generating platform agnostic content initiatives that integrate the consumer, the brand, and the message. Michael was Executive Producer of Identity, a half-hour branded entertainment cable television program that targets women 25-54. Identity launched in 2002 and has been distributed on Bravo, Lifetime, WE: Women’s Entertainment, and Biography, and has provided a messaging vehicle for Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Kodak, Black & Decker, Pennzoil, Atari, and the National Breast Cancer Coalition, among others.

    From 1995 – 2003, Michael was a senior banker at FleetBoston (now Bank of America), the 7th largest US commercial bank with over $200 billion in assets. At FleetBoston, Michael developed, packaged, and closed more than $1 billion in business across a spectrum of industrial verticals, including media, retail, technology, and distribution. Michael has a proven track record in advising and financing companies ranging from early stage ventures to global conglomerates and has extensive experience in financing mergers & acquisitions, private equity, and specialized banking.

    Michael has a B.S in Management from Purdue University and is a graduate of Babson College’s prestigious entrepreneurial MBA program.

A serial entrepreneur, she started and ran a successful record label, developing a television show which aired on the E! Network and the first CD-Rom magazine, and was a consultant to media outlets, record labels, and retail stores on marketing and strategy issues. Susan then moved on to the health care sector, creating products focusing on health monitoring and preventing childhood obesity. Susan has consulted extensively on brand development and management, strategic planning, and marketing in industries including high-tech, retail, health care, and non-profits. She currently serves as a lecturer in the Department of Management at the School of Business Administration, teaching courses in strategy, entrepreneurship, and organizational behavior.
