    In 1999, Jim founded Open Prairie Ventures I as a $40 million fund focused on Midwest seed and early stage technology opportunities. Jim has a diverse background in start-up companies, investment banking, and entrepreneurial ventures. He has been an active investor in a wide variety of industries, including: medical services and medical device technologies, semiconductor, software development, e-commerce, construction, financial services, and information technology.

    Jim remains active on the boards of Epiworks and Venomix. He has served as Chairman of the Board/CEO of Telemind Capital Corporation, a Midwest-based merchant banking group, and has served as Chairman of the Board of Prime Banc Corporation, a Central Illinois multi-bank holding company. In addition, he has served on the board of numerous Midwest-based technology corporations.

    Prior to founding North Coast, Lindsay was a co-founder of Chromatic Research, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company formed in 1993. Chromatic targets the multimedia PC market with its Mpact media processor and an extensive library of software. Lindsay was responsible for raising capital and licensing agreements with Toshiba Corporation and Rambus, Inc.

    In addition, Lindsay held a number of executive positions with Approach Software Corporation, a relational database developer founded in 1991 that was acquired by Lotus Development Corporation. He was also the 386/486 product manager for Everex Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of personal computer systems and peripherals that went public in 1987.

    Lindsay began his career in 1986 as an investment banker with Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he worked with emerging technology companies including Digital Microwave Corporation, Everex Systems, Inc., Maxtor, Inc. and Sun Microsystems, Inc. Lindsay was also a Senior Manager with Ernst & Young Corporate Finance in Detroit.

    Lindsay received an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1992. He graduated magna cum laude with distinction from Yale University in 1985 with a B.A. in History and was awarded the McKim Prize.

    Jacob is a Vice President at Detroit Venture Partners, a seed and early stage venture capital fund formed by partners Josh Linkner, Dan Gilbert, Brian Hermelin and Earvin "Magic" Johnson. Jacob currently sits on the boards of various DVP portfolio companies, including Are You A Human?, ShopWith. It, Detroit Labs, FLUD, and OWN Point of Sale.

    He is concurrently finishing his JD / MBA at the University of Michigan Law School and the Ross School of Business, where he is studying both the legal and business aspects of venture capital transactions.

    Jacob has significant entrepreneurial experience, most notably as co-founder and CEO of Ugrub.com (formerly eatblue.com), a web-based advertising company focused on college markets, which sold to an industry competitor in 2006. He has also spent two years as a strategy and operations consultant at Deloitte Consulting L.P. Jacob holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan.

    Kevin Ramsier is an angel investor with a background in raising capital, start up funding, turnaround management and small business acquisitions.

    He raised $2 billion in assets for a large global investment firm, and has provided funding for media companies, marketing firms, software companies and environmental companies. He currently holds equity stakes in AQC (a leading environmental and soil gas remediation company), Trash On Wheels (a company that rents trash dumpsters on trailers), KLRI (a real estate holding company) and AdFactor (an online design, SEO software and marketing firm).

    He received a degree in Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University, enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children and is a beaten down fan of Cleveland sports teams.
