    Lenard Marcus is a member of the Virginia, Maryland and DC investment team. Lenard identifies and evaluates investment opportunities. Lenard participates in due diligence and structuring investments. His activities include market research, technology assessment and financial analysis. He is actively involved in the entrepreneurial, technology and financing communities in the MAVA region.

    Lenard began his career at IBM where he worked as a financial analyst for IBM Global Services. His main responsibilities were overseeing a budget of $80 million and partnering with International locations to decrease the project costs of IBM Global Services West. Later, Lenard worked for Princeton eCom an on-line bill payment company where as Manager of B2C implementations he oversaw one of the largest joint ventures in the company's history. Lenard also worked in Health Care Investment Banking for Wachovia Securities.

    Lenard holds a MBA from Columbia Business School with a concentration in Finance and Management and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University.

    Jonathan is the founder and Managing Director of the Fund. He possesses substantial venture capital, financial and managerial expertise, gained over a career spanning venture capital, law and investment banking. Since 2005, when he formed Amplifier, Jonathan has been integrally involved in evaluation and execution of its investment opportunities. He is primarily responsible for evaluating and selecting the remainder of the Amplifier Team, and directs and manages Amplifier's investment process. As a member of the board of directors of portfolio companies, Jonathan plays an active role in recruiting executives, soliciting and closing funding rounds, licensing technology, identifying alpha and beta customers, and charting strategy.

    Jonathan was a practicing lawyer from 1990 to 2004. During that time he represented many venture capital backed technology businesses, as well as family- and closely-held businesses. His clients looked to him for counsel and advice in all of the important challenges that a family business or closely-held company could face - for example, family disputes, transitional issues, corporate governance, transactional planning, business sales, human resources, distribution and sales, and financing. Jonathan's clients valued his commitment to their business objectives and his ability to manage complex situations with a positive attitude. He was also well respected by his colleagues and was asked to manage large practice groups and offices several times. Jonathan was a partner in the nationally-recognized law firms of Fenwick & West, Fish and Richardson, and Pillsbury Winthrop.

    As Amplifier's Managing Director, Jonathan is applying the managerial experience he gained by managing the growth and business activities of branch offices for two international law firms, including a $45 million business unit with more than 200 employees. Prior to entering legal practice, Jonathan worked in the investment banking industry in London, England (Daiwa Securities, Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette and Goldman Sachs International), where he applied his financial analytical skills in mergers & acquisitions and international interest rate and currency trading.

    Jonathan is also an educator, and he teaches subjects relating to family- and closely-held businesses, including corporate finance, business planning, organizational development and new venture creation. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. He is also a regular speaker on topics related to business formation and expansion for groups such as the National Academies of Science, the National Science Foundation, the Northern Virginia Technology Council and others. He is frequently interviewed and quoted on business topics by national and local news organizations, including the Deal, Potomac TechWire, the Washington Post, the Washington Business Journal, ThinkTalk Television and Left Jab Radio on Sirius/XM.

    Jonathan holds a BA (with honors) in Political Science and Economics from George Washington University, where he was a Phi Beta Kappa. He received an MSc in International Economics with Distinction from the London School of Economics. He also holds two law degrees, an MA from Downing College, Cambridge University and an LLM from the New York University School of Law.

    John is a seasoned technology investor and entrepreneur with 25+ years of experience investing in and managing rapidly growing, high-technology companies. Prior to founding New Atlantic Ventures in 1998, John was a founding investor and the President and Chief Executive Officer of InteliData Technologies, a Fast 50 growth company in both 1997 & 1998. John led InteliData’s predecessor, US Order, through a successful $65 million IPO in 1995. John currently manages a $225 million venture portfolio at New Atlantic Ventures. He currently serves on the board of directors of AppTap, Ftrans, Invincea, Koofers, My Wines Direct, Qliance, & RemitPro. He is the past Chairman of the Wolf Trap Foundation Board of Directors, the past Chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) Board of Directors, the founding Chairman and current Board member of the NVTC TechPAC, and was appointed by former Virginia Governor Mark Warner to co-chair the Virginia Research and Technology Advisory Commission which he served on for 4 years. John began his career at Bain & Co. and Bain Capital, where he was the first Bain & Co. management consultant to take a full time operating role (as CFO) in a portfolio company.

    Robb joined New Markets Venture Partners as a General Partner in 2003. Robb is the lead administrative partner and serves as a board observer for BDMetrics, Navtrak, Appfluent, and ARPU, Inc. Robb also serves on the board of Egeen International and the Conflicts Advisory Board of the off-shore hedge funds managed by Deutsche Asset Management's Absolute Return Strategies Group.

    Robb has been investing in high growth companies since 1993. Prior to New Markets, Robb was a Managing Director of the Small Enterprise Assistance Funds (SEAF), a $200 million managed emerging market venture capital company. Robb served on the board of SEAF portfolio companies in industries including pharmaceutical distribution, cable television, internet services, food retail and distribution, biotechnology, and enterprise software. Prior to SEAF, Robb was an Associate of Private Equities at the Calvert Group, a $10 billion socially responsible mutual fund and has worked for two start-up companies.

    Robb was a visiting professor at the University of Warsaw 's School of Business teaching finance to MBA candidates and has been a guest speaker the at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern and at the Johnson School of Business at Cornell.

    Robb graduated from the University of Vermont, with a major in History, and received a MBA with Honors from the Georgetown University. Robb is married with three children.

    Gil Beyda is a seasoned entrepreneur turned venture capitalist. Gil launched his first company Mind Games in 1982 to develop games for the original Apple II. Gil then started a software consulting firm with Fortune 100 clients in the U.S., Asia and Europe.

    In 1995, Gil helped pioneer Internet advertising by founding Real Media, the first online ad network and ad server company. After Real Media was acquired in 2001, Gil pioneered the next wave of online advertising as CTO of TACODA, the first behavioral targeting, ad network. Following AOL’s acquisition of TACODA in 2007, Gil founded Genacast Ventures in partnership with Comcast Ventures.

    For more than 13 years, Michael Kelley has been executing and managing principal investments in venture capital and real estate. He is the founder and principal of Formation Capital, Inc. (“Formation”), which currently manages in excess of $50 million in equity invested in 30 investments. Formation’s venture portfolio includes Foxfire Printing and Packaging, iProcess Online and Performance Systems Development. Formation also manages investments in multi-family developments utilizing the Low-income Housing Tax Credit. At Formation he personally developed an online fund management system that allows all stakeholders to collaborate, upload or access information based on permissions. Prior to Formation, Mr. Kelley was a principal with HK Special Situations Group, where he provided advisory services to the US Small Business Administration regarding a troubled Small Business Investment Company. He was also a principal with GSA Management and with Intrust USA. At Intrust he was responsible for raising and investing 4 real estate tax credit funds and one venture capital fund. In addition to serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Innovation Fund, Mr. Kelley sits on the boards of Foxfire Printing, Early Stage East, and the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League. Mr. Kelley received his BA degree in History magna cum laude from the University of Delaware.
