Dwaine Canova, Angel Investor, Chairman (Co-Founder) of Capital Consortium, Inc.
Dwaine has long been involved in funding and growing companies. He has served as the CEO of four companies and the COO of two companies. Each company required growth strategies, funding activities, and day-to-day operations to reach their successes. He has extensive experience in starting new companies, growing early stage companies, and helping mature companies get funded, refocus, and grow. He works with banks, venture capital funds, angel funds, and other financial institutions to fund service, manufacturing, technology, industrial products, and consumer products companies with funding collateralized by personal guarantees, accounts receivable, inventory, equipment, real estate, and the hope an idea would be successful. There have been many opportunities within these companies to acquire competing companies, related services companies, and companies operating in many countries around the world.
His background includes significant involvement with technology, management accounting, and governance activities while serving as senior management and as a Board member. He has created a management methodology for emerging growth companies to help them manage their growth without stressing management. The methodology provides a solid set of processes and infrastructure upon which to guide the daily operations and to keep the management and operating teams on the same page. Building financial pro forma plans is a particular interest for him as he believes an entrepreneur or professional manager cannot properly grow a business without understanding the numbers and how each management action impacts the numbers. Proper strategies, ample funding, proper and accurate information, asking the right questions, focusing on the right priorities, building the right team, supporting everyone with timely and accurate data, following the established strategies, and encouraging every one to perform at their top level are all necessary for a company to perform at its highest potential.
Dwaine earned his MBA at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
