    John Hall has more than 16 years of experience in the venture capital industry . He was a General Partner of Newtek Ventures from 1989 until 1999, when he co-founded Horizon Ventures where he also is a General Partner. Prior to his venture capital career, John had broad experience in senior financial and general management roles over a 20-year period in the pharmaceutical, semiconductor and software industries and was a co-founder of 3 successful software companies. As a venture capitalist, John has been a member of 14 board of directors of both private and public companies and currently serves on the boards of four private companies. He holds a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance and an MBA in Finance from San Jose State University and did Ph.D. work in Finance at the University of Santa Clara.

    Arati Prabhakar joined U.S. Venture Partners in 2001 after 15 years of working with world-class engineers and scientists across many fields to brew new technologies. At USVP, her focus is fabless semiconductor and semiconductor manufacturing opportunities. She serves on the boards of Kilopass, Kleer, Lightspeed Logic, Pivotal Systems, and SiBeam. She previously served on the board of Leadis Technology (NASDAQ: LDIS). Arati was a program manager and then director of the Microelectronics Technology Office at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency from 1986 to 1993. At DARPA, she supported R&D in company and university labs in semiconductor manufacturing, imaging, optoelectronics and nanoelectronics. In 1993, President Clinton appointed Arati Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where she led the 3,000 person staff until 1997. Arati then joined Raychem as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. She was subsequently Vice President and then President of Interval Research Corporation. Arati began her career as a Congressional fellow at the Office of Technology Assessment. Arati received her B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University. She received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology. Arati is a Fellow of the IEEE.

    Nancy Pfund is a Managing Director at JPMorgan. She co-heads JPMorgan’s $75 million Bay Area Equity Fund, a double bottom-line private equity fund aimed at investing in emerging growth companies located in or near lower-income neighborhoods of the Bay Area. Ms. Pfund joined Hambrecht & Quist, now JPMorgan, in 1984. Her investment experience has extended from technology to health care and consumer, and has included special concentrations in the environmental, education, and instrumentation-related sectors. In addition to her private equity responsibilities, Ms. Pfund also built and directed H&Q's external affairs and philanthropic programs from 1996 to 2001. In 1988, President Bush appointed Ms. Pfund as a charter member of the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology. In 1999, Ms. Pfund was appointed by President Clinton to serve on the Congressional Web-Based Education Commission. Ms. Pfund received a B.A. and M.A. in anthropology from Stanford University, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.

    As a member of the Digital Media Group, Jason focuses on digital media, wireless, and consumer oriented technology investments. His experience includes management positions in business development, marketing, and engineering in multiple technology sectors, providing a diverse perspective to his investment and portfolio company efforts at VantagePoint. Additionally, he has experience both in industry-leading technology companies and as an entrepreneur. Prior to joining VantagePoint in 2005, he was responsible for acquisitions, venture investing, and corporate strategy for Cisco Systems' Corporate Business Development group, where he led numerous transactions involving voice, video, wireless, consumer, and broadband communications companies. Before Cisco, Jason served in product management for Xros and Nortel Networks (which acquired Xros). He was also an R&D engineer and project leader for TransVascular (acquired by Medtronic), where he was part of the founding employee team. Jason is named on 16 patents for his design work. He is a Kauffman Fellow and graduate of Stanford University (BS, MBA).

Tim's previous investments include InvenSense (NYSE: INVN), Five9 (NASDAQ: FIVN). Teknovus (acq by Broadcom), Schoolfeed (acq by United Online) and Ario Data (acq by Xyratek). From 2001 to 2011, Tim worked as a General Partner at Partech International. Between 1997 and 2001, he served as the Chief Marketing Officer for Digital Island (NASDAQ: ISLD, acq by Cable & Wireless), a Partech portfolio company. Tim’s past business experience also includes his work as a General Manager at Lucent Technologies. While General Manager, he led the international voice communications product management team with P&L responsibility for product lines that generated over $2 billion in annual sales.

    Tim graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Bowdoin College. His Bachelor of Arts degree is in Physics. Following this, he completed his MBA from Duke University.

Since joining InterWest, Nasr has led investments and joined the board of Terawave Communications, a leading passive optical networking (PON) systems provider, and Gear6, a provider of storage acceleration appliances to enterprise data centers. From 2000 through 2005, Nasr was investing in information technology companies for Alta Partners. Prior to that, Nasr spent 16 years with start-ups in the networking and telecommunications industries. Nasr was president and chief executive officer of FlowWise Networks. He also served as general manager and vice president at Ipsilon Networks, the IP switching pioneer. Prior to Ipsilon, Nasr served as chief operating officer at Advanced Computer Communications (ACC), a leading manufacturer of access routers and remote access servers, and as vice president of marketing and services with Premisys Communications, a leading provider of Integrated Access solutions. From 1987 to 1992, Nasr served as vice president of network services with Newbridge Networks. Nasr sits on the board of directors of Netli, Xelerated, Aegis Lightwave and RedShift Systems. Nasr holds B.A. and M.A. in mathematics and social and political sciences from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
