The Alliance of Angels is a program of the Technology Alliance that is composed of more than a hundred individual accredited investors and investment corporation representatives who seek to establish and mentor early stage companies toward progress and success. Technology Alliance, on the other hand, is an organization of leaders in various fields and industries united with a common goal of spearheading economic progress in the state of Washington. To help realize this goal, a small group of members and private investors formed the Alliance of Angels in 1997.
To date, the Alliance of Angels has a total of more than a hundred of member investors. Membership to the Alliance is strictly invitational and subject to the approval of the group members. There is also a criteria set for membership qualification. First and foremost, a member should be an accredited investor in accordance to the rules and regulations of the Securities Act of 1933 of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to application, an individual should have made at least one private investment in the last twelve months and should be sponsored by a current member. If not, an applicant should be endorsed by three current members of the investment group. Although there is no specific amount of investment required per member, it is imperative that a member should engage in at least one investment in a year. All members enjoy certain privileges, such as access to a database of prospective companies, access to forty investment opportunities in a year, research reports of prospective companies, monthly lunch meetings, a network of business connections, and other important investment business resources and events.
The Alliance of Angels' preference of investments are on technologically-based companies or companies with a high potential for growth and progress and are located in the Pacific Northwest region. Applications may be submitted online with a minimum fee of $45. If a company is selected for further review, the Program Manager shall contact it for more information and shall also thoroughly evaluate the candidate company's qualifications. After which, the candidate company's application will be forwarded to the Screening Committee. If the company passes through the Screening Committee, they will requested for a business presentation to be held on the investment group's monthly meeting. Investment decisions shall be made either individually or by a selected group of members.
The Alliance of Angels is a member of the Angel Capital Association, and is supported and sponsored by various groups and companies that are significant in the investment business.
