The Triangle Accredited Capital Forum is an angel investment group that was created by a group of local companies interested in advocating private investments on early stage companies in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina. It is a member of the prime organization for angel investment groups, which is the Angel Capital Association. The group holds regular meetings where the member investors find promising investment opportunities through business presentations from various companies. The meetings are strictly a private by-invitation-only event. Thus, only members of the investment group, presenting companies, and occasionally invited guests are present in meetings. Members are given the necessary confidentiality to have the prerogative on the kind of investment deals to participate in and to avoid unsolicited contacts.
Triangle Accredited Capital Forum works as a center for the connection of credible investors with promising companies. An investment capital of about $250,000 to $2 million can be provided to early stage companies. The group is interested to invest on companies that provide solutions to compelling business problems, are technologically innovative and unique, have a sizable and increasing market opportunity, have competitive market edge, are capable to earn significant amounts of profit in a limited time, and have great potential to attain market leadership. Although the Research Triangle Park is known for its technology and life science industries, the investment group also invests on other industries.
Applications for funding should be submitted directly to the Triangle Accredited Capital Forum via email. An application means an executive summary that should not be longer than five pages. All applications shall be initially screened for the vital points necessary for a qualified investment. These applications shall then be reviewed by the board of directors. Only the top three companies among the reviewed applications shall be eligible for presentation to the investment group. The three companies shall be invited for a business presentation to the board of directors, as well as for proper review and coaching to prepare them for the final business presentation. Each company will be given fifteen minutes to present their business plan, and another fifteen minutes of question and answer session during the business presentation to the investment group. Final business presentations are held on the regular meetings that happens every six to eight weeks. There are about twenty qualified investors that attend the regular meetings. Investment decisions are made by the individual investors after hearing the presentations. All deals and negotiations shall be carried out by the interested investor.
