The Tacoma Angel Network is an angel investment group founded in June of 2006. It is a non-profit organization of accredited investors who assists companies in the early stage or later stage of development to achieve market leadership by providing funding capital and counseling. Its members are of great credibility and experience in various industries. They are individuals who have achieved success in business as entrepreneurs or executives. By engaging in investment activities, the Tacoma Angel Network does not only help in the growth of local companies, but of the local economy as well.
To be a member investor of the Tacoma Angel Network, one should be an accredited investor. In accordance to the rules and guidelines of the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States, an accredited investor should have an individual or joint net worth of at least $1 million, or an individual annual income of at least $200,000 or a joint annual income of at least $300,000. A prospective member should be endorsed by a current member of the investment group upon application. Members of the group should also be willing to participate in company investments at least twice a year or should have an annual investment amounting to $50,000. A minimum amount of $350 is also charged to every member for annual membership fee. All investor applicants should accomplish the eleven-part membership application that can be found on the investment group's website. A qualified member will gain access to the group's database of resources through the use of a user name and password. The list of members and their profiles is strictly confidential and shall not be used in any other way except in activities related to the Tacoma Angel Network.
Tacoma Angel Network prefers to invest on early stage companies located within the Pacific Northwest region. Approximately, six companies are selected in the initial screening. These companies shall be advised to come for a presentation to the deal screening committee. Each company will be given ten to fifteen minutes to present, followed by a 15-minute discussion session. After the presentation and evaluation, the deal screening committee will decide if a company may present to the entire member investors for final screening. A company that will present to the investment group shall be charged a minimum amount of $250. After the final presentation, an investment decision shall be made by individual members of the group. For business presentations, the minimum requirements of the group are a PowerPoint presentation and an executive summary. However, applications with complete supporting documents are more preferable. A list of these documents can be found on the investment group's website. Submission of applications is also done through the group's website, wherein each applicant will be asked first to create a profile. This profile can be accessed through a user name and password to proceed with the application submission.
Tacoma Angel Network Website
The format of the Tacoma Angel Network website is very sophisticated and organized. The tab links to the different categories are systematically arranged, as well as the presentation in each of the pages in the website. The home page comprises information about the Tacoma Angel Network itself. There are exclusive pages for a brief background about the investment group, a schedule of activities, a list of sponsors, current news and events not just within the group but also in the whole investment industry, as well as an acknowledgment page where the group expressed their gratitude to all who became instruments in establishing the group.
A tab for members is also included in the website. Within this tab are pages that provides information about the Tacoma Angel Network members, their management team and a list of the companies they have made investments on. Prospective investors can find a page that provides the membership requirements and the membership application that can be done in eleven-steps. Current members of the investment group can also find the log in page within this tab. They can log on to the page by using a user name and password.
Another tab for prospective companies is also provided. One page deals with the membership requirements, process of application and other significant information needed for application. The other page is a log-in page for prospective companies that already has created a profile for application submission. To those who have not yet created a profile, they can click on a link in the same page that will be directed to another page where a company profile can be created.
There are also tabs that include informational pages that contain links to various resources and materials that are very useful to investors and entrepreneurs. A page that provides slide presentations is also useful and can serve as guides for those who are interested in angel investment. The last tab provides an index to the contents of the website. There is also a contact page that includes a physical and an electronic address.
