Washington Dinner Club is an affiliate investment fund of New Venture Group (NVG) that aims to support early-stage companies in the Washington DC area. Currently, the Club has 75 elite angel investors whose primary mission is to provide seed capital investment and professional mentoring to disruptive technology companies with sustainable business growth and wide market opportunities. Focus industries include Information Technology, Biotechnology, Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID), Telecommunications, manufacturing, real estate, and software solutions. Furthermore, the group believes that financial assets can help a company in achieving its initial milestones but only proper guidance and counseling can sustain the growth of the business and turn it into a successful venture.

Members are seasoned entrepreneurs with sufficient knowledge on diverse areas in angel financing, market growth, feasibility strategies, funding fundamentals, due diligence process, and networking. This team of accredited investors devotes time and effort to attend NVG's regular activities, events, dinner meetings. In addition, members serve on committees to facilitate the selection process to uphold the mission of the group. Club members guide the start-up companies from their initial stage of development up to their subsequent funding or IPO. For investors who would like to join the group, an application is requested to be sent online or through the Club's head office.

Executive summaries submitted online by potential start-ups are evaluated by the Screening Committee of the group. Shortlisted proposals will present their business plans to a select group of Club members. If a sufficient interest is apparent among the investors, successful companies shall be subjected to a due diligence process that usually takes 6-12 weeks. This process includes personal interviews, product study, market analysis, and chief operations.

Typical investment ranges from $500,000 up to $1M depending on the qualifications met by the start-up. In case a particular company needs to raise an investment more than $1M, the group co-invests with other angel groups, venture capitalist firms, and related organizations. To support this, the Club establishes networks with finance groups to further support its portfolio companies in follow-on funding, access to resources, and deal sourcing.

The Club is expected to invest in 8-12 companies from the entire value of the Fund as each Club member is required to make an investment worth $150,000. The Fund was fully invested in since September 2004 and the members are currently working on developing and managing strategies to increase sales and revenues of the Club's portfolio companies.

The New Vantage Group has 35 companies in its portfolio and 11 of which are funded through the Washington Dinner Club Fund. These companies include MetricVision, Defywire, ObjectVideo, WiderThan, Cigital, Optinel Systems, and Cyveillance.

The New Vantage Group has four subsidiary investment funds: Active Angel Investors Network, Dinner Club, E-media Club, and Washington Dinner Club. The website provides sufficient information and background for each investment fund to encourage application from technology start-ups and private investors.
