Since its foundation in 2000, Golden Gate Angels continues to be one of the foremost angel investment groups in the San Francisco area that aims to provide seed investment and professional mentoring to start-up companies with huge market potential and business growth.

Golden Gate Angels believes in the ability of start-up companies to grow as huge, sustainable businesses. The group continues to be impressed with the way these early-stage companies are doing despite financial limitations and numerous market competitors.

Typical investment ranges from $50,000 up to $150,000 in companies that passed the screening criteria and the due diligence process conducted by the group's members. With regard to its track record, Golden Gate Angels had invested $300,000 worth of seed capital in four start-up companies in 2004. Since its inception, the group had already closed 10 successful deals worth $2,000,000 in various companies in the San Francisco area. 3 Rings Designs and Mobile Greetings are two of the group's accomplished companies in its portfolio.

Members of the group meet almost every month to discuss investment status and to scrutinize business presentations from potential start-ups. What follows is a partial rundown of companies who were able to present during meetings:

*Provisoft. Founded in 2001, Provisoft sells application software to help companies in different web-based solutions and to manage their resources in terms of provisioning specific applications to meet consumer needs.

*37 Degrees. A Quality Assurance company whose mission is to provide total solution needs to high-end businesses within San Francisco. 37 Degrees' competent QA solutions support its clients' IT management group by ensuring that they get the best software applications they need to perform their business.

*PrivacyRight. This technology-based company provides software applications and privacy solutions in terms of corporate management.

*Network Shell. Focused on management solutions through information technology and e-business, Network Shell provides Internet-based solutions for Linux, Windows, and UNIX as well as services and products to develop and support web site content and data management of its client companies.

*Dashbox. A technology company that offers an application software to control access from documents and essential personal information in wireless portals.

*Headpedal. This company provides virtual, animated, and interactive customer service assistance to support various transactions made through the Web.

As Golden Gate Angels' founder and co-chairman, Tom Cervantez has more than 15 years of experience in securities and finance operations as well as helping start-up companies through angel investment, venture capital funds, licensing transactions, and mergers. Tom also worked in different technology companies where he gained professional expertise on hardware and software applications. In addition, he also provides professional mentoring to high-rank US companies that plan to widen its foreign markets as well as companies outside the US that seek local funding and distribution. Aside from being a partner attorney at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP law firm, he is also a co-founder of Globalnet Ventures and Geonet Communications, two of the most highly successful companies in business today.
