Committed to advance the growth of Cincinnati business communities, the Queen City Angels (QCA) is a regional group of accredited investors, former CEOs, tycoons, and first-rate entrepreneurs that values investment in promising, high-growth companies throughout the Cincinnati region and nearby states. The group is dedicated to improve its investment returns by funding substantive ventures. The network focuses on a wide range of industries, from software applications and medical devices to life science and technology sectors, as long as these enterprises can foster considerable growth within a specific time frame. QCA is currently based on Reed Hartman Highway, Cincinnati where its investment process is held. C-cap, Cincinnati's premier resource hub, offers assistance in overseeing the operations of the group.
Aside from providing seed investment, QCA members also guide their potential start-ups, who passed the selection and due diligence procedures, and portfolio companies through expert consultation and management counseling. Mentoring includes assistance in product development, marketing strategies, subsequent funding, recruitment, team-building seminars, and deal closures.
If all efforts are exhausted in seeking capital from friends and families or venture capitalist firms are simply not an option, QCA provides the proper investment that new ventures need in helping their businesses grow. QCA members receive referrals and proposals from C-cap and review the qualifications of each executive summary. After assessment, shortlisted entrepreneurs are requested to submit their business plans and formally present their proposals in one of the group's assembly. Investments are done individually but members collectively perform the due diligence process before issuing a term sheet of agreement to entrepreneurs.
In addition to the criteria mentioned above, QCA members are looking for potential ventures that can generate annual revenues and sales of more than $10M within a period of time. Easy market entry and early market advantage factors such as patent, proprietary technology, and intellectual property are also taken into consideration. Moreover, business should be managed by a strong team of entrepreneurs that can devise a well-articulated exit strategy and reasonable company valuation. Typical investment ranges from $200,000 up to $1M for qualified entrepreneurs. In case a venture needs a capital below $200,000, entrepreneurs are asked to get in touch with the Queen City Angels First Fund managed by members and affiliate groups.
As of the moment, QCA is seeking members that will share its vision of supporting Cincinnati-based companies. Prospective members must be accredited investors based on the guidelines set forth by the Securities and Exchange Commission. QCA also welcomes investors who can share their industry experiences, networks, resources to assist the development of young entrepreneurs. As members are actively involved in the investment process, potential members should devote their time and effort in the selection process, due diligence, and deal closures. Annual membership dues and initiation fees are also applicable.
