The Camino Real Angels is an investment organization established in El Paso, Texas. As a non-profit organization, it enjoys tax exemption from the Internal Revenue Service. The group is managed by its own members who appoint their own Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and Board of Governors. The group's mission is to generate significant financial returns on the investments made by its members in companies in the local region. The investment group does not operate on accumulated fund but on individual investment decisions made by its members. Members are accredited investors with clear understanding of the high risks involved in investment and vital experience and knowledge in investment process. The experiences in various industries and businesses of the angel investment group's members enable them to perform various functions such as serving as members of committees or mentoring newly emerging companies.

The Camino Real Angels usually acquires investment opportunities from its own network of connections. The group provides up to $1 million worth of investment to early-stage companies within the Greater El Paso and Southern New Mexico areas. Companies that have great potential to achieve market leadership and are capable to provide a compelling return of investment in a fast rate are highly preferable. A company should also have a strong competitive edge in the industry, a continuously growing market base, an experienced management team, a realistic and viable exit strategy, and a valuation that should meet the investment expectations of the group. A company that is interested to apply for funding should accomplish a deal screening form that is available on the group's website. This form should be directly submitted to the group via electronic mail.

An application that interests the Camino Real Angels will undergo evaluation and be assigned to a pre-screening team. A meeting shall be set between the candidate company and the pre-screening team in preparation for a screening session. During this meeting, a candidate company shall be given fifteen minutes for business presentation and another quarter of an hour for panel discussion. After these, members of the group will perform a due diligence process. If further interest is incited from the members, the company shall be requested for a final business presentation during a dinner meeting. If a significant number of members are interested to invest on the company after the business presentation, the negotiations for the terms and agreements for final investment shall take place.

Camino Real Angels Website

The home page of the Camino Real Angels's website gives a brief background about the group, a short explanation of the group's investment goals, mentoring activities, meetings, and structures. Applicants for funding can find the investment qualifications in the investments tab. There is also a screening process tab that also provides guidelines and tips for presentation. A PowerPoint template format for business presentations can also be downloaded from the site. Company valuation factors and term sheet company components are also enumerated and explained on the page. Applicants can also view a sample of proposal on the same page. There is also a tab allotted for funding application submissions. The deal screening form can be downloaded from the page and an email link for application submissions is also available. There is also a telephone number provided for verification of submitted application. For those who are not that familiar with angel investment, the angel investing overview tab on the website offers a short history and explanation.

Members of the Camino Real Angels are provided a tab on the website where they can log on using a username and password. After logging on, members can access the group's database of application submissions which they can review and evaluate. A member info tab is available to those who are interested on membership. The page provides the criteria, responsibilities, and application process for membership. Applications for membership can be submitted through an online registration system that can be accessed through a link on the page. Clicking the submit button on the registration form will automatically send an application directly to the group.
