 |
The Piedmont Angel Network is an angel investment group managed by its own members and operates on a fund resource for investments. The group focuses on investment opportunities with companies in the early stage of development and has a high potential for rapid growth. They prefer companies located in the North Carolina Piedmont Triad region and are engaged in the fields of life science, software, and technology. Although companies from the neighboring states of South Carolina and Virginia are also welcome provided that they meet the group's investment requirements.
Members of the Piedmont Angel Network enjoy various benefits, like a compelling return of investments, fellowship with other members in investment activities, mentoring early-stage companies and many others. They can also access a database file on the group's website, which is username and password enabled. All members are required to commit a minimum investment amount of $50,000, as well additional investments on any fund investments the group will participate into. Interested applicants for membership should contact the fund executive.
Piedmont Angel Network provides an initial investment of $250,000 to $350,000, which can still increase from additional investments from individual members, as well as other investors. The network can participate in lead investments, as well as follow-on investments. The group is also supported by other angel investors or groups and venture capital firms for further investment needs. Aside from an interest in technology-based companies to invest in, the group is also interested with a company that is having huge difficulties or problems. A problematic company does not need to be technology-based, but should have a significant market. Preferably, a national or international market that can generate annual revenues of at least $50 to $100 million. All companies that are interested to apply for funding should also have a viable business plan that can provide ten to thirty times of return of investments within the span of three to five years.
Companies that are interested to apply for funding from the Piedmont Angel Network can submit their application and three-page executive summary through an online registration system on the group's website or via email. A company could also be sponsored by a current member of the group for easier coordination. All applications will be reviewed by the fund executive. If a company bears potential and meets the ideals of the group, they will be requested for a copy of their complete business plan. After passing the initial screening, the company will be requested to present to the screening committee a twelve-minute business proposal, followed by a twelve-minute forum discussion. This will take place during the group's regular meeting. If the company passed the screening test, they will be requested again for a business presentation, this time on the general membership meeting. After the presentation, a due diligence process will take place. Thereafter, the terms and agreements will be negotiated, and then the final investment will transpire.
Piedmont Angel Network Website
The Piedmont Angel Network website has a very business-like format featuring images of business professionals. The home page provides a short description of the investment group, as well as access to the recent and past news and events. A brief overview about the group is also available in one of the pages. Prospective investors are also provided a page that indicates the necessary information that encourages them to apply, such as the benefits of membership. Applications can be submitted through a contact person. The contact details are also provided on the same page. Current members can access a database of investment files, which they can access by logging-on to the members page through a user name and password. The tab for entrepreneurs, on the other hand, is packed with significant information regarding funding application. Companies can submit their applications, as well as their executive summaries, through an online registration system. Applicants can also download a copy of the application screening process and guidelines for business presentation. These are very useful for them in creating an effective business presentation. A resource link is also available within the entrepreneurs tab. It provides links to websites that can be of great use to entrepreneurs or those interested in the investment business.
There is also a tab for the management team and their profiles on the website. It has a very interesting presentation that includes pictures of the management team. The profile of a member can be viewed by putting the mouse pointer on a specific picture. The portfolio of investments of the Piedmont Angel Network is also provided by clicking on to the portfolio tab on the website. Each company has a corresponding description, as well as a link to their company website. There is also a contact page that provides a physical address, contact persons, electronic addresses and telephone numbers. It even provides a map, as well as driving directions. This feature is generated through randmcnally.com.
