Inception Micro Angel Fund (IMAF) Family of Funds is composed of regional angel investment organizations in North Carolina. Each group provides funding capital to early-stage companies primarily located in North Carolina and in selected areas of South Carolina and Virginia. These angel investment groups are the IMAF-Triad, whose primary investments are in the North Carolina Piedmont and Triad region; the IMAF-West, whose primary investments are in the North Carolina western mountains region; the IMAF-Coastal, whose primary investments are in the North Carolina coastal region; the IMAF-East, whose primary investments are in the North Carolina eastern region; the IMAF-RTP, whose primary investments are in the North Carolina Research Triangle Park region; and the IMAF-Kannapolis, whose primary investments are in the North Carolina southern region and the North Carolina Research Campus.
Inception Micro Angel Fund is founded by Timothy R. Janke, JD; William G. Ward, Sr., MD; William R. Price, DDS; and Charles Calkins, JD. It is considered a limited liability company, owned and managed by its members. Currently, the group has a total fund amount of $2 million. Majority of its members are experienced and skilled in the medical and dental fields. Other members are also of vital experiences and skills in other industries or in the investment business. All members of the group are accredited investors in accordance to the guidelines and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States. Accredited investors are those whose individual or joint net worth is $1 million or more, or whose individual annual income is worth $200,000 or more, or a joint annual income worth $300,000 or more.
Aside from individual members, the Inception Micro Angel Fund also has group or organization members, but are entitled to only one representative participant. Members of these groups or organizations are also accredited investors or their net worth as an organization is at least $5 million.
Inception Micro Angel Fund provides an investment capital between $25,000 to $100,000. They also co-invest with other angel groups, venture capital firms or super angels. The group invests on emerging companies that have high growth potential and are located within the North Carolina region. Companies should have a strong and passionate management and advisory team who are committed to achieve market leadership and should have a technologically innovative edge or an exclusive product design.
Companies that are interested to apply for funding should submit an executive summary of about three to five pages directly to the Inception Micro Angel Fund. All applications will be reviewed by the administrative committee during the group's regular meetings held every Tuesday of every month. A company that will gain enough interest from the members will be requested for a formal business presentation. After the presentation, the group will further discuss and evaluate the candidate company to come up with the final investment decision. Candidate companies should take note that the group gives preference to those who have attended "Investor-ready Entrepreneur" seminar that is given by the Small Business & Technology Development Center.

Inception Micro Angel Fund (IMAF) website is a multi-faceted website that caters to all members of the Inception Micro Angel Fund Family of Seed Stage Funds. All the websites of the members are featured and can be accessed on the website. The contents of each IMAF member website are similar, but are customized to fit with the designated area it caters to. The main website is the IMAF website and serves as the home page as well. While the IMAF member websites can be accessed through the tabs provided in the IMAF main website.
Each IMAF member website provides funding applicants the process of application submission and the requirements. Each website also features an executive summary that provides all the significant information there is to know about IMAF. It includes a description of the structure and background of the group, a profile description of its members, their goals and the names of their founders. There is also a list of the investment criteria, as well as an explanation of the process of how an investment decision is made, and other important details. There is also a page for the portfolio companies. A short description about the nature of each company is included, as well as a link to their own website.
Individual members of IMAF are provided a page on the website. This can be accessed by logging-on with a user name and password. Members can read or utilize the files or information available, as well as join group discussions. This facility is Google enabled. The contact page, on the other hand provides physical and electronic addresses, telephone numbers and contact persons. Further inquiries or comments can be made by accomplishing a form available on the contact page. All questions are automatically sent electronically to the designated IMAF mailbox.
