    Angel Investor Group Profile
Atlanta Technology Angels FundingPost Venture Capital and Angel Investor Network
The Atlanta Technology Angels is an angel investment group founded on 1999 in Atlanta, Georgia. The group is headed by Mr. Knox Massey, who has been the Executive Director since 2002. They already have 125 total number of memberships that consist of recent and past members. There are 55 active members to date. The group has made over $2 million worth of total investments in about thirty-five technological companies across Atlanta. Their portfolio of investments include Connecture, SilverPop, Servigistics, MarketVelocity, Nexidia, Marketworks, Invistics, Qcept Technologies, Oversight Technologies, Jacket Micro Devices, Beacon Software, Asankya Networks, OpenSpan, Calorie & Pulse Technologies, TerraGo Technologies, ZeeWise, and others. Atlanta Technology Angels is also a member of the prime angel organization in North America, the Angel Capital Association.

Atlanta Technology Angels members are accredited investors in accordance to the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States' guidelines and regulations. An accredited investor has an individual or joint net worth of $1 million or over, or an annual individual income of $200,000 or over or joint annual income of $300,00 or over. The member investors are divided into three categories. First are the entrepreneurial angels, who have extensive expertise in technology or other industries; second, the operational angels, who have C-level expertise in technology, and the last, the financial angels, who input money and their network of connections. The investment group members have held vital positions in technological companies and other industries. There are about eight recent members who are corporate executives in technological companies, and about twelve past members. Interested applicants for membership are encouraged to submit an application via electronic mail.

An investment funding amount between $250,000 to $1 million can be provided by the Atlanta Technology Angels. All technology-based companies that are in their early stage of development are qualified to apply for funding. A candidate company should also be located in Atlanta, Georgia. The investment group also prefers a company that can generate a significant amount of return of investment. If future investments should arise, the group would still have a pro-rata participation. Also, any company that qualifies for funding should have one member from the group seat as a member of the board. Funding applications can be submitted via electronic mail. All applications will be evaluated by the screening committee. These companies that have been screened will have a thirty to forty-five minutes business presentation to the screening committee. Then, a company that would be selected will have a final business presentation to the whole investment group. This is usually held during monthly meetings. If the candidate company generates high interest, the group shall perform a due diligence process. Thereafter, final negotiations of terms and agreement shall be discussed prior to final investment.

    Atlanta Technology Angels Website

The home page opens to a short background about the investment group, citing a statistics of accomplishments within the last nine years. Two email links are provided for investor and entrepreneur applications. There is also a link to additional information about the investment group. The link leads to a page where a description and categories of the member investors are enumerated. Another link for the investment criteria is also on the home page. This leads to a page where investment guidelines and criteria and screening process are explained. A logo of the Angel Capital Association is also featured, which serves as a link to their own website.

Among the tabs in the website is the about us tab where a short historical background about the Atlanta Technology Angels is provided, as well as a profile of the group's current executive director. The portfolio tab, on the other hand, is where the list of company investments is enumerated, with a short description of the nature of the company. A calendar tab is also available. It is where the group's events and activities are posted. Then, the members tab provides a log-in page where members can access the group database through the use of a user name and password. The contact tab provides a physical address and various electronic mail addresses.
